Friendship/729 Dynasty Super Carbon

Blade description:

This composite blade features a 5+2 construction, characterized by a distinctively high-speed performance and a stiff, hard feel. Designed primarily for aggressive play, it requires careful rubber selection to maintain consistency and avoid excessive pace during rallies. Due to its rigid nature and high velocity, it is generally considered unsuitable for beginners and is better matched with softer, more controllable rubbers to balance its output.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Stiffness: The blade is exceptionally fast and stiff, favoring players who prioritize raw pace and hard hitting over moderate, touch-oriented play.
  • Feel and Feedback: It offers a hard contact sensation, which can make it bouncy during delicate shots like serve returns, necessitating a period of adjustment for the user.
  • Equipment Pairing: Users report that pairing the blade with softer rubbers helps stabilize its performance, allowing for improved control without sacrificing its high-speed potential.
  • Versatility: Beyond offensive looping or hitting, the blade is functional for specialized setups, including short pips on the forehand or long pips on the backhand, where its speed assists in creating disruptive, high-velocity shots.

Dec 28, 2014: My first blade I purchased several years ago. I would not recommend this blade to beginners. It proved to be too fast, hard, and stiff for me. I wish I had waited as the 729 hinoki carbon was out of stock at the time.

May 19, 2015: I have lowered the speed rating from 9.5 to 9.2.

I played these in my drive short pips dr evil and in my bh long pips giant drag³n long long. People don’t like to play with me, but I’m doing very well in tournaments.

I hit very quickly on my drive and in the backhand, I control the match very well. The long pips make very damaging hits with a very high speed deception.

Great speed and good control. I didn’t like it at first try, but after a few months I used it again using a Yasaka R7 soft this time—wow! It worked well. It’s now my number one set up.
