Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft

Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft - packageYasaka Rakza 7 Soft - sponge

Rubber description:

The Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft is a tensor rubber featuring a medium-soft sponge and a highly grippy, natural rubber topsheet. It is widely recognized for offering a high level of consistency, making it a popular choice for players who prioritize spin and control over raw, explosive power. Due to its soft, forgiving nature and high dwell time, it is frequently favored for the backhand side, though many players also find it effective on the forehand when paired with faster, stiffer blades.

Key Characteristics

  • Spin and Control: The rubber is highly regarded for its ability to generate heavy spin, particularly on loops and serves. Users consistently highlight its “forgiving” nature, which provides exceptional control for touch play, precise ball placement, and tactical rallying close to the table.
  • Feel and Dwell Time: The soft sponge creates a significant dwell time, allowing the ball to sink into the rubber for improved accuracy. This often results in a distinct, pleasant “clicking” sound upon impact, which provides clear feedback during offensive strokes.
  • Performance Dynamics: While it is a tensor rubber, it is often described as having a controlled, linear performance rather than being overly erratic. It possesses a medium-high throw angle, which helps in clearing the net during loops and open-ups against backspin, though this high arc requires a period of adjustment for players used to lower-throwing, flatter rubbers.
  • Durability and Maintenance: The topsheet is known for its longevity, often maintaining its grip long after other rubbers might degrade. However, the sponge can be somewhat fragile, particularly during the removal of old glue; care should be taken to avoid chipping the edges, and the use of edge tape is recommended to protect the perimeter.

Playing Considerations

  • Versatility: It is suitable for a wide range of skill levels, from intermediate players refining their technique to advanced strategists who prefer a controlled, spin-oriented game.
  • Blade Pairing: Performance can vary based on the blade; it pairs exceptionally well with carbon or harder blades to compensate for its softer feel, as it can occasionally feel “bouncy” or underpowered on slower, all-wood setups if the player lacks sufficient stroke power.
  • Not a Power-Hitter: Players looking for a “put-away” rubber for flat hitting or long-distance power may find it lacking compared to harder, more explosive variants. It is designed primarily for consistency, tactical ball placement, and high-spin looping rather than pure speed.

Previously, I was playing with Rakza 7. Many of my deliveries were going outside. But now, with Rakza 7 Soft, the same deliveries are within the table. Now I have better control. I can now do good flicks, which was not possible with faster rubbers. This rubber has good dwell time, and the ball also remains low. It forgives my mistakes, and the ball remains within the table. Overall, I find Rakza 7 Soft a good buy for intermediate and defensive players. I am now able to counter the smashes. My opponent reports that the ball becomes slower than usual, and they find it difficult to do smash.

I have been using these rubbers for about 10 years. I am very happy with the combination of RAKZA7 soft 1.8 with Primorac OFF+ Tamca 5000.
