DHS Hurricane 2 (No. 19 Sponge)
Rubber description:
This sticky rubber features a tackiness that remains durable over time, paired with a sponge that is notably softer and more compliant than traditional Chinese forehand rubbers. It is designed for active, aggressive play, as the rubber performs best when the player initiates decisive strokes rather than playing passively. The sponge provides a distinct, loud sound at high impact, signaling successful engagement of the rubber’s speed potential.
Playing Characteristics
- Throw Angle: Offers a medium throw that allows for both low-trajectory drives and high-arc, spin-heavy loops depending on the contact technique used.
- Spin and Control: Provides significant spin potential through brushing the ball. The softer sponge construction compared to professional Chinese alternatives results in improved feedback and touch during short game and flicks.
- Versatility: Capable of handling a range of offensive shots, from “zipping” flat drives to loaded spin loops. It requires a commitment to a positive, forward stroke to unlock its performance, as it lacks the “autopilot” behavior found in modern tensor rubbers.

The rubber is nice, but unfortunately, mine had a very poor glue job. The rubber peels off the sponge with ease.

I found the H3 Neo to be too stiff and hard for my forehand, especially for brush loops, flicks, or any other hits that require touch. This rubber, however, is a solution; it is much softer in comparison, has a slightly higher throw, and the tack is very nice. I believe it has the same top-sheet as the Neo.
The sponge feels softer and more European, making it much more controllable. The only thing I miss is the low arc of the H3 Neo’s topspin. Nevertheless, this rubber has the same great speed as Hurricane 3 Neo, and at high speed, the loud splash sound indicates that you have just hit a higher speed level. It truly is a great rubber.
Update: The throw is actually lower than that of the H3 Neo, making it a very nice medium rubber.
Furthermore, I don’t think it is as good as the new tensors. I consider it to be the best non-tensor forehand sponge for a recreational player. However, if you want to upgrade your game, I would recommend trying a tensor.

This rubber feels similar to DHS TG3, but the tackiness lasts longer.
