DHS Skyline 3 TG3

Rubber description:

Characteristics of the DHS Skyline TG3

The DHS Skyline TG3 is a sticky Chinese rubber known for its very hard sponge and high-density composition. It is a demanding, heavy rubber that requires a high level of physical input and aggressive, full-body technique to activate effectively. Due to its firm nature, it rewards players who utilize large arm swings, consistent hip rotation, and fast acceleration, making it well-suited for high-level offensive play and Chinese-style penhold techniques.

Performance and Playability

  • Spin and Speed: The rubber offers exceptional spin potential, particularly on topspins and service. It is designed for fast, aggressive looping and powerful drive play. While capable of significant speed, the ball output is highly dependent on the player’s effort, as the rubber can feel slow or “dead” during passive shots or low-impact contact.
  • Control and Dwell Time: While it provides excellent control in the short game and on controlled blocks, it has a significant learning curve. The low throw angle requires an adjustment in racket angle to ensure the ball clears the net consistently. Players may find the rubber unforgiving, as it is highly sensitive to incoming spin and lacks the “cushioned” feel of softer, non-Chinese alternatives.
  • Suitability: It is best utilized by intermediate to advanced players who prioritize a fast, attacking game. It performs exceptionally well for close-to-the-table counter-attacks and 3rd-ball attacks. Because of its weight and rigidity, pairing it with a carbon or stiff composite blade is often recommended to improve the overall balance and power transfer of the setup.

Crisp as a nut, hard as nails. I really love this rubber as it seems my game has progressed to enjoying the harder sheets. I play curl LPs on the other side and twiddle. I find it better on the backhand to be fair, where blocks and fast off-the-bounce drives can win points. The ball stays low, flat, and fast. It’s kinda similar to Hurricane 2, which is also hard. But now I prefer Skyline…I think it’s better.

Tested in 1.8 mm. In this thickness, this rubber may be good for chopping (not my preferred playing style) or for a very young player who prefers hard rubber on the forehand.

By far, the hardest rubber I’ve played with. The ball bounces three times on my paddle and then stops. The rubber generates amazing spin, and serves are top-notch. In my opinion, topspins are better on a boosted H3N compared to this rubber. I’m curious to see how it performs when boosted. I used it on the forehand of the Air Mamba S.
