The DHS Skyline TG3 is a premium table tennis rubber that caters to aggressive players seeking high-speed and spin capabilities. Renowned for its tackiness, the TG3 facilitates excellent spin generation, making it particularly effective for looping and sharp counter-attacks. This rubber boasts a unique combination of high spin (rated 11) and speed (also rated 11), alongside a remarkable control rating of 11, which highlights its versatility for different playing styles.
In terms of tackiness, the TG3 scores an impressive 8.2, although players have noted that the newer versions may not be as tacky as previous iterations. Its weight is moderately heavy, rated at 6.8, which is typical for rubbers designed for power and performance. This substantial weight does require players to adjust their technique, and it can be less forgiving for those still mastering their strokes. Durability is rated at 7.9, indicating that while it stands up to rigorous play, regular care is essential to maintain its performance over time.
Alternatives to DHS Skyline TG3 include other high-performing Chinese rubbers such as the DHS Hurricane 3 and the Skyline TG2. However, players have consistently noted that while these alternatives may offer comparable spin and speed, the particular feel and characteristics of the TG3 set it apart, especially for those who prefer a harder rubber. The TG3 is especially popular among penhold players and those who excel with a more dynamic, aggressive playstyle but may present a steep learning curve for beginners. Proper mastery of the rubber can lead to impressive performance enhancements on the table.
Crisp as a nut, hard as nails. I really love this rubber as it seems my game has progressed to enjoying the harder sheets. I play curl LPs on the other side and twiddle. I find it better on the backhand to be fair, where blocks and fast off-the-bounce drives can win points. The ball stays low, flat, and fast. It’s kinda similar to Hurricane 2, which is also hard. But now I prefer Skyline…I think it’s better.
Tested in 1.8 mm. In this thickness, this rubber may be good for chopping (not my preferred playing style) or for a very young player who prefers hard rubber on the forehand.
By far, the hardest rubber I’ve played with. The ball bounces three times on my paddle and then stops. The rubber generates amazing spin, and serves are top-notch. In my opinion, topspins are better on a boosted H3N compared to this rubber. I’m curious to see how it performs when boosted. I used it on the forehand of the Air Mamba S.
