DHS Hurricane 3 Neo National (Blue Sponge)
Rubber description:
This is a sticky (tacky) rubber featuring a hard sponge, traditionally associated with Chinese-style forehand play. It is characterized by high levels of surface grip and significant spin potential, allowing for effective, high-rotation loops and controlled short-game play. When combined with a hard, dense sponge, it rewards players who utilize a physical, aggressive swing to generate speed and power, as the rubber requires significant input to maximize its performance.
Performance Characteristics
- Spin and Control: The rubber offers exceptional spin generation, particularly during forehand openings and topspin attacks. Players report high levels of control in the short game and during blocking, allowing for precise placement.
- Speed and Dwell Time: While capable of producing fast, powerful shots, it typically requires an active, athletic stroke to engage the hard sponge fully. Some users may opt for boosters or tuners to increase the sponge’s elasticity and overall speed.
- Tactile Properties: The topsheet is highly tacky, which facilitates easy ball manipulation and heavy spin on serves and pushes. Note that the intensity of this stickiness may diminish over time depending on environmental conditions and usage frequency.
- Playing Profile: Due to its weight and hardness, it is recommended for experienced players with advanced footwork and technique. It is specifically designed as a forehand rubber, as its characteristics are less suited for the nuances of backhand play.
Considerations
- Throw Angle: Opinions on the throw angle vary depending on the specific version and tuning, though it generally produces a trajectory that supports aggressive looping.
- Physical Demand: The rubber’s performance profile demands high physical exertion and proper form; it is often described as a tool for high-level competitive play rather than casual use.

Coming from playing with Dignics 09C, the transition for me is smooth. While 09c is a great rubber, its durability is a big problem. With Hurricane National, my short game improved a lot and forehand openings are more spiny. I am loving the rubber so far after one month of usage.

Some time ago, I purchased this table tennis rubber. After about a month of using it, the stickiness completely disappeared and the spin decreased. I didn’t understand why this happened, although some people claim it was due to the conditions in the gym. Overall, it seems like a good table tennis rubber.

Very good ball holding and stickiness, good spin, and control.
