Rubber description:

Playing Characteristics

The 729 Aurora is a high-speed tensor rubber designed for aggressive attacking styles. It is widely regarded as a specialist offensive rubber that excels in fast, powerful, and precise shots. Because of its lively sponge and springy nature, it is particularly favored as a backhand (BH) rubber for flicking, punching, and blocking, though it is also capable of performing effectively on the forehand (FH) for users who prefer a direct, fast-paced game.

  • Speed and Spin: The rubber offers high speed with a potent catapult effect, allowing for rapid exchanges and powerful loop attacks. Its top sheet is generally non-tacky or only mildly grippy, providing a playing feel similar to European or Japanese rubbers rather than traditional Chinese tacky rubbers. It is notably insensitive to incoming spin, which aids in controlled blocking.
  • Throw Angle and Dwell: It typically produces a medium to medium-low throw angle. While some users find the rubber requires adjustment when transitioning from higher-throw alternatives, it provides excellent feedback and consistency. The sponge is generally available in soft to medium-hard variations (commonly 40° to 42°), providing a balance of dwell time that facilitates accurate, fast-paced loops and precise opening shots.
  • Control and Versatility: While highly responsive, the rubber is often described as a “rocket launcher” in close-to-the-table play, making it less suitable for beginners or defensive chopping. Its performance characteristics are often compared to more expensive professional-grade tensor rubbers. However, users should be aware of potential quality control variations, as some reports indicate inconsistent durability or issues with top sheet adhesion to the sponge.

I’m sorry, but the provided text does not contain information on where to buy the rubber. Therefore, I cannot answer your question.

I ordered this rubber based on reviews I found here and because it seemed to fit my playing style. However, it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

After only about 2 hours of play, some huge blisters started to form on the FH rubber and some smaller blisters on the BH. The rubber was separating from the sandwich. Now when I start peeling at the edge, it’s clear that the rubber is loosely attached to the sandwich.

It’s too bad because it seemed like a good rubber, but I’m not ordering it again.

Wonderful backhand rubber. It is both spinny and fast. You can end the point with a magical loop or a shot.
