Butterfly Dignics 64
Rubber description:
This rubber is a hybrid featuring a “Spring Sponge X” base, designed to provide a firm feel and high-velocity performance. It is characterized by its significant speed and direct trajectory, making it highly effective for aggressive smashing and driving close to the table. While it provides substantial spin, the emphasis of its performance lies in its ability to deliver punchy, powerful shots rather than exclusively looping-oriented play.
Performance Characteristics
- Surface and Spin: The top sheet possesses a slight tackiness and high grip levels. It generates considerable rotational energy, comparable to or exceeding standard performance rubbers, with a medium throw angle that favors direct play.
- Feel and Control: Despite its high speed, the rubber is noted for having high potential for control. It is less sensitive to incoming spin than traditional high-performance tensors, which aids in stability during short-game interactions.
- Physical Properties: The sponge is relatively firm, offering a distinct sensation upon ball contact. It is not considered heavy, and the material demonstrates high durability, maintaining its performance characteristics over an extended period of use.
Tactical Suitability
This rubber is best suited for players who operate within 1–2 meters of the table. Its long, flat trajectory and ease of smashing make it a strong candidate for attackers who prioritize pace and tactical placement. Users may need to adjust their blade angle slightly during driving due to the rubber’s reactive nature and tendency to produce a trajectory that clears the net decisively.

In general, I think this rubber is outstanding. However, at 1.9 mm, it is a bit too fast for my backhand. Therefore, I am still sticking with the Tenergy 64 in a thickness of 1.7 mm. If this rubber were available in 1.7 mm, I would immediately replace the Tenergy with it, as it is definitely less sensitive to incoming spin and offers more control.
My red rubber, in 1.9 mm, weighed 43 g when packed and cut for a Donic Dotec blade.

This rubber is the fastest in the Dignics series. Spring Sponge X enhances all Dignics rubbers, providing them with high control and significant potential. The throw angle is average.
The spin produced is higher than that of other manufacturers’ rubbers but lower than that of T05, D05, or D09C. I would recommend this rubber for players who prefer smashes, as it is not particularly suited for looping.
A huge thumbs up to Butterfly for its impressive durability once again!
