The DHS Hurricane 3 (No. 19 Sponge) is a well-regarded table tennis rubber, cherished for its exceptional ability to generate spin and its durability. Known for its unique tacky surface, this rubber excels at producing pronounced spin, making it a popular choice among players who rely on heavy topspin and controlled loops. As a premium rubber, it offers an excellent combination of speed, spin, and control, registering impressive ratings of 11 for both speed and spin, and an overall control rating of 12.
Tackiness is one of the standout features of the Hurricane 3, rated at 8.1. This allows players to grip the ball effectively, enhancing their spin capabilities further. However, some users have noted that achieving speed can be challenging without the aid of organic glue, especially for those who play from a distance. The weight of the rubber is medium (6.5), which balances well with most blades, making it easy to handle and maneuver during play.
In terms of durability, the Hurricane 3 scores well at 7.9, ensuring that it withstands the rigors of competitive play. Players have commented on its longevity, making it a worthwhile investment for those who value sustainability in their equipment. Nevertheless, alternative rubbers such as Butterfly Tenergy 05 may provide more explosive speed and a greater tangential spring effect, which is occasionally perceived as a drawback of the Hurricane 3’s performance. Ultimately, for players who prioritize spin and control, particularly in close-to-the-table play, DHS Hurricane 3 (No. 19 Sponge) remains a solid choice, despite opinions about its speed.
Good one for my backhand. I am able to loop well.
Too slow!
You will need to use organic glue to use this rubber to produce fast enough shots.
Good throw angle and spin and durability though.
Very spinny rubber that generates a good arc. It takes some time to get control of but is very durable. I use it on my backhand as a CPen user.
