There is definitely a difference between sticky and tacky rubbers in table tennis. I love the Hurricane III (Provincial) for its stickiness; however, it lacked the speed I wanted. I haven’t tried the tuned version yet, but after reading the reviews on this site and considering my experience with the 729 Sensor 2, I decided to try the Transcend.
Initially, I was disappointed because I expected to have the same stickiness I experienced with the Hurricane III. However, after one practice session, I am pleased to inform the table tennis community and prospective buyers that this rubber is exceptional! As the topsheet is beginning to wear, I am noticing increased stickiness along with the existing tackiness.
In short, I dare anyone to loop against you. You get all the benefits of the Hurricane III without the extra effort.
This rubber was my choice for the forehand on my first professional-grade racket, paired with the Friendship/729 Cream Transcend. To be honest, I found them very similar. You can read my review on the Cream since I reviewed that one first!
I did notice just a slight difference: the Friendship/729-3 Transcend was ever so slightly faster and offered less control compared to the Friendship/729 Cream Transcend. Otherwise, I found them to be more or less the same. Overall, this rubber is impressively amazing!
