Friendship/729 Faster (Fenghun)

Rubber description:

The Friendship/729 Faster (Fenghun) is a prominent choice for players seeking a potent offensive rubber that delivers impressive speed and spin. This classic Chinese rubber is particularly well-regarded for its speed rating of 12 and spin rating of 11, making it an excellent option for advanced players who are ready to take their game to the next level. While not a tensor rubber, many users note that it provides sufficient speed and can perform admirably even without boost or speed glue, resulting in crisp hits and powerful strikes.

In terms of tackiness, the Faster rubber scores a solid 7, meaning it allows for decent spin generation compared to other Chinese rubbers. However, some players have mentioned that its tackiness may not meet the standards of top-tier options, particularly for heavy loopers. With a medium weight of approximately 5.6 grams, the rubber feels substantial enough to deliver controlled shots while remaining maneuverable for quick action. The durable design, with a durability rating of 7.1, ensures that players can rely on its performance over prolonged use.

Alternatives to the 729 Faster include other offensive-based rubbers like the DHS Hurricane series or the Battle series, which some users have compared it to. Players who favor a more controlled spin-oriented game might consider transitioning to these options if they find the Faster lacks in certain areas like consistent spin. Overall, the Friendship/729 Faster presents a compelling value for money, ideal for those attacking players who crave speed and are willing to refine their technique for optimal performance.

I am a third ball attacker with a loop and using RITC 729 40S on my forehand. It gives me excellent loop and almost 80% of opponents can’t return the ball.

However, this rubber is not ideal for my forehand. It can’t generate good spin in top spin and even medium or beginners can return the ball.

This rubber is ideal for drive and shots during the rally. However, it can easily lift the ball for a top spin. Tackiness is too low and is soft rubber, which can easily return opponents speedy top spins.

Ample speed and control. The tackiness is just below some Chinese tacky rubbers. This is a very good rubber to start developing your offensive potential.

Blade Yeo Power 7

The BH is Battle 1 and FH is a 2.2 mm red sheet of Faster Feiighun.

Cons

  • Comes in 2.2 mm only (not 2.1 mm)

Pros

  • Approximately 44 gm cut size for blade
  • Great round-the-net play
  • Xtreme spinny serves
  • Excellent looping with great technique
  • Easy to play with

After Boosted (3 layers of Xtreme Booster)

  • Weight increased to 46 gm
  • Sponge became more reactive
  • Speed increased by 30%
  • Spin increased by 30%
  • Very durable
  • Xtreme Booster has a positive effect on the Transcend sponge and Battle 2 orange sponge

Other Observations

  • Chopping on top spins is easy with this rubber.
  • This rubber will be my backup rubber on FH because it’s too heavy for BH (40-44 gm preferred for BH).
  • It is more responsive and slightly faster in rallies than Battle 2.
  • It is better than Battle 2 far away from the table.
