Butterfly Moonbeam

Butterfly Moonbeam - main

Blade description:

The Butterfly Moonbeam is a discontinued wooden blade known for its balanced weight distribution and specific handle design. It features a unique, flared handle shape that provides players with an ergonomic grip, enhancing stability during spin-oriented shots and blocking maneuvers.

Playing Characteristics

  • Performance: Users report a notable improvement in backhand consistency and power, making it a reliable choice for players focusing on technical development and mid-range control.
  • Feel: The blade is characterized by a heavier build, which contributes to a solid feel during ball contact. It is versatile enough to accommodate various playing strategies, ranging from beginner-level practice to more advanced, spin-heavy game styles.
  • Construction: This is an all-wood blade.

Given its status as a discontinued product, current availability is limited. Its design caters to those who prioritize a secure, ergonomic grip and predictable, balanced performance across different areas of the court.

Very old blade, discontinued, and not so good. The only good thing about this is the name.

The blade is excellent with good control, balance weight, and mid-range ball control. What I really like and love with this racket is that it has a unique flair size handle. It allows the player to grip even better the racket to have full stable control spinning and blocking. Sadly my Moonbeam was broken and can’t be fixed and gave it to children that wants to play table tennis. This racket is best for all type of playing strategy and also for beginners as well. I hope butterfly will continue again this racket with same details and even the sizes. Thanks!

My rating is approximately 1600 (USATT). A practice partner suggested the BTY Moonbeam, which he owned. Upon using it, I noticed a significant improvement in both the power and consistency of my backhand. My backhand performance was the best it had ever been. The blade made a huge difference.

Currently, my setup consists of the Moonbeam (anatomic handle) combined with Baracuda 2.0 (forehand) and 802-40 (backhand). I favor this blade, despite its discontinued status. I seek a comparable replacement, but I hesitate to switch blades due to the potential disruption to my game. I welcome recommendations. If you encounter any Moonbeam blades, please inform me. I could use a backup blade as the edges of my current Moonbeam are showing signs of wear.
