Blade description:

The Michael Maze is a composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction, utilizing Arylate Carbon layers to balance high-end speed with a notable level of control. It is designed primarily for the variable offensive player, offering enough versatility to perform well in both close-to-the-table counter-hitting and mid-distance looping exchanges.

Characteristics and Performance

  • Feel and Feedback: The blade is known for a crisp, direct feel that maintains a sense of touch often missing in stiffer composite designs. Many users report that the Limba outer plys contribute to a softer, more forgiving contact compared to blades with harder outer wood layers, providing excellent dwell time for spin-oriented shots.
  • Stiffness and Flex: While it features a stiff composite core that provides a high rebound and powerful pop during flat hits and smashes, it retains a degree of flex. This allows for an effective, high-arcing ball trajectory when executing aggressive topspins.
  • Playability: The blade is highly regarded for its consistency. It is generally described as more direct than some of its contemporaries, offering a reliable throw angle that rewards both active blocking and varied offensive stroke play.
  • Construction: As a 5+2 construction blade, it integrates the strength of Arylate Carbon with wood plys, resulting in a lightweight build that remains maneuverable during fast-paced rallies. The handle, particularly the flared version, is frequently cited for its ergonomic comfort.

I paired this excellent blade with 05 fx and DNA M. I have no more wishes for this blade. I feel most complete when I’m using this combination. For me, it’s the best blade Butterfly has ever made. 93gr ST handle blade.

The best Butterfly ALC blade for me. Very good control with nice speed. The feeling is insane. If you are searching for a softer Butterfly blade, you should try this one.
