Blade description:

The Butterfly Michael Maze blade is a remarkable choice for players seeking a versatile blend of speed and control. Designed with a 5-ply wooden core of ayous surrounded by 2 plies of arylate-carbon, this blade combines the natural feel of wood with the enhanced rigidity of carbon, making it suitable for aggressive offensive playstyles. With an overall weight of approximately 85g and a thickness of 5.9mm, it strikes a balance between maneuverability and stability.

In terms of flexibility, the Michael Maze exhibits a medium stiffness rating of 4.7, providing enough feedback for precise ball control while retaining the ability to deliver explosive shots. Its hardness score of 5.1 enhances the blade’s capacity for generating spin and speed, making it an excellent option for mid-distance players who like to adapt their play between control and power.

For those exploring alternatives, the Michael Maze stands out against other popular models like the Timo Boll ALC and the Timo Boll Spirit. While it may feel slightly slower than the Timo Boll series, numerous players praise it for its superior control and consistent performance, especially in blocking and smashing scenarios. Those looking for a softer feel might consider the Timo Boll ALC, but many users vouch for the Maze’s performance for looping and hitting. At a competitive price point compared to high-end models, the Michael Maze is celebrated as an exceptional blade that can elevate one’s game without breaking the bank, hence making it a favorite among diverse playing styles.

The best Butterfly ALC blade for me. Very good control with nice speed. The feeling is insane. If you are searching for a softer Butterfly blade, you should try this one.

Better than the Timo Boll ALC. The softer limba outer wood increases its control and feel. It has slightly more vibration and is a tad slower than the Timo Boll ALC, but the control and feel are superb. It’s much better than the TB ALC.
