Blade description:

This composite blade features a 3+2 construction, utilizing Hinoki outer layers over carbon fiber. It is widely recognized as a high-speed, offensive-oriented instrument designed for advanced players who possess precise, high-quality technique. Due to its significant speed and stiffness, it is not recommended for beginners or those lacking consistent footwork, as it provides limited forgiveness for technical errors.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Power: The blade is exceptionally fast, capable of delivering powerful smashes and deep, penetrating loops from mid-to-long distance. Its stiff structure provides a solid, uncompromising feel during aggressive flat hits and blocks.
  • Feel and Dwell: While the blade is stiff, the Hinoki outer layers offer a unique contact sensation. Although the dwell time is relatively short, it remains sufficient for generating spin when paired with appropriate rubber.
  • Control: Control is considered challenging due to the high-velocity nature of the blade. Players often find that they must adjust their closing angles to prevent shots from sailing long. It performs best when paired with rubbers that allow the player to “tame” the speed, such as medium-to-hard spin-oriented rubbers or certain soft, controlled options depending on personal preference.
  • Versatility: While it excels in offensive exchanges, blocks, and drives, its performance in the short game (pushes/flicks) requires a high degree of touch and accuracy. The blade is favored by players looking for a consistent, professional-grade tool for an aggressive, modern attacking style.

This is a great paddle, offering excellent speed and, with the right rubbers, good control. It feels light and fast. However, I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have solid footwork.

My main issue is the high level of vibration; you feel it a lot when hitting the ball. It takes time to adjust to, especially if you’re an intermediate player, but once you do, it can be lethal.

Update: The wood is excessively fast, and the vibration remains very high.

Great blade.

My first professional blade, which I had for more than 8 years, is a good choice for an aggressive game. It was not easy to control the ball before the 40+ ball was introduced, but now it’s much easier to play with. It’s good for blocking and flat hitting. I find it easier to spin the ball with the new balls, and it has more control. I still play with it from time to time. My usual blade is TB Alc.
