The Butterfly Amultart ZL Carbon is a premier table tennis blade designed for aggressive players seeking speed without sacrificing control. This elite blade features a unique composition that includes two plies of Zylon carbon, complemented by two plies of hinoki wood with a lightweight kiri core. This combination not only contributes to its impressive speed rating of 14 but also enhances the blade’s overall performance, making it a favorite among advanced players who specialize in offensive play.
Weighing in at approximately 88 grams and measuring 7.1mm in thickness, the Amultart’s design strikes a balance between weight and thickness that promotes power in shots, especially for looping and smashing. The blade displays a commendably stiff structure with a stiffness rating of 6.9, allowing for sharp top spins and precise placement. Players have praised its ability to maintain effective control even with aggressive strokes, thanks in part to its high consistency rating of 9.5. Although it is predominantly favored by experienced players, feedback indicates that those with a solid grasp of table tennis fundamentals can also appreciate the blade’s capabilities in various play styles.
For players in search of alternatives, options such as the Mizutani Jun or various Innerforce ZLC blades may offer similar qualities in different configurations. However, the distinct feel and responsiveness of the Amultart ZL Carbon make it a standout choice for those looking to elevate their game through advanced offensive techniques.
A few years ago, I got into the mindset of playing the safe game and controlling the ball more, so I went from my Primorac Carbon to Clipper Wood, which was fun for a long while. Then I moved to Xiom Feel zx2 because of the Hinoki layer to see how it affects the dwell time, touch, and control, which was good too. However, I needed to put more effort into my shots.
Recently, I played with Amultart and cannot lie; it felt so much better than any of the abovementioned blades. It is fast, quite hard, but very forgiving. Blocking is very easy, smashing is very easy, dwell time is less than Clipper Wood or Feel zx2, but not bad in any way. I felt even my out of position loops with bad posture would land easier than the other blades.
I like the speed, power, and control of this blade. It works well with Chinese rubber.
Update: December 2023
I am using Donic Bluestar A1 in both the forehand (FH) and backhand (BH), and it is perfect!
This blade excels at controlling and blocking. It provides a high level of precision and stability, allowing players to execute controlled shots and effectively counterattack their opponents' attacks.
