Stiga Kevtech

Blade description:

The Stiga Kevtech is a high-speed, composite blade designed primarily for aggressive, offensive play. Featuring a rigid and hard construction, it is well-suited for smashes, drives, and powerful topspin loops. Due to its significant weight—often exceeding 190g—it requires the user to have disciplined footwork and physical stamina to handle the blade effectively during intense rallies.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Power: This blade provides high-velocity output, making it highly effective for attacking strategies and put-away shots.
  • Feel and Stiffness: The blade has a stiff, hard feel, which aids in stability during blocking but may limit the feedback and sensitivity required for delicate touch shots or short-game manipulation.
  • Spin Generation: It is capable of producing moderate spin on both topspin and backspin strokes. While topspin loops are consistent and accurate, the blade’s extreme speed can make control challenging, particularly on the backhand side.

Equipment Considerations

  • Composition: This is a composite blade utilizing Kevlar fibers, designed to enhance the rigidity of the structure.
  • Weight Distribution: It is notably heavier than many traditional Stiga offerings. Because the blade itself carries significant mass, it is recommended to pair it with rubbers that offer higher control to help balance the overall setup. It is generally not recommended to use this blade in combination with very hard rubbers, as the resulting setup can become difficult to manage.

A very fast blade that is fairly heavy. It generates moderate spin both topspin and backspin. It excels at smashes as this is a very hard and heavy blade.

Topspin is very accurate, consistent, and powerful, but backhand lacks control. It is still very fast, however. Looping ability is average. Would not recommend hard rubbers as they are difficult to control.

Conclusion:

A very good blade that is definitely a game-winner if you can use it effectively. Would recommend it for the advanced player due to the speed.

Weak control, fast and hard. Very high speed.

Awful feeling in this one. It’s too heavy. Mine were 103 g. There is power though.
