Composite/carbon
Blade description:
The Stiga Surge Hybrid Carbon is an offensive composite blade utilizing a Close Core Fiber (CCF) construction. Measuring 6.0mm in thickness, it features a hybrid layer of carbon and aromatic carbon fibers placed directly against the wood core. This inner-fiber arrangement is designed to offer a dual nature: a natural, wood-like touch during low-impact short-game play and high speed and power during aggressive offensive strokes once the composite materials are activated.
Performance and Stability
- Speed and Consistency: Engineered for modern offensive styles, this blade provides high speed and stability. The integration of aromatic carbon enlarges the effective sweet spot, ensuring a more predictable ball trajectory and improved consistency on off-center hits.
- Controlled Pace: While designed for power, it offers a more controlled pace compared to other inner-fiber models like the Inspira CCF, focusing on the balance between aggressive speed and defensive reliability.
- Power Delivery: The blade produces a linear power delivery, which allows for more predictable shot-making without the excessive catapult effect common in head-heavy offensive blades.
Feel and Weight Distribution
- Sensory Feedback: The blade provides a “crispy” and relatively stiff sensation. The feedback is direct, leaning closer to the sensation of an outer-carbon blade than traditional inner-fiber designs.
- Vibration Damping: It features significant vibration-damping properties that filter out harsh feedback, resulting in a clear hitting sensation transmitted through the handle.
- Balance: The weight distribution is typically mid-balanced, enhancing the blade’s maneuverability and making it easier to transition between different types of strokes compared to head-heavy alternatives.
