Victas ZX-GEAR IN
Blade description:
The Victas ZX-Gear In is a flexible composite blade featuring a 3+2 construction. It utilizes an inner-layer Zexion carbon-fiber weave positioned next to the core, sandwiched by Limba outer plies. Designed primarily for loopers, it offers an “inner” feel that prioritizes dwell time, spin, and a high throw angle, making it highly effective for players who prefer to generate power through aggressive strokes rather than flat hitting.
Performance Characteristics
- Feel and Control: The blade provides a distinct, wooden feel characterized by high dwell time and a muted, sturdy bounce. It offers a large, consistent sweet spot, providing exceptional control in the short game, on pushes, and during delicate blocking.
- Speed Dynamics: It functions as a “control-looping” blade, with speed that scales linearly with the player’s swing speed. The composite layer is designed to activate primarily during brushing or looping motions, providing power when needed while remaining controlled during touch shots or passive play.
- Versatility: Due to its soft feel and predictable catapult effect, it pairs well with both Chinese tacky rubbers and modern tensor rubbers. It is particularly noted for its effectiveness at the table and its ability to handle long pips on the backhand, though some players may find it loses some potency when playing at significant distances from the table.

I have two of these blades and they seem identical. I usually prefer 7-ply wood, but I wanted to try an inner carbon blade, so I got this one.
I play with long pips (LP) on the backhand side, and I will say the control and ability to chop and place the ball are all exceptional for a blade of this speed. On the forehand side, it is mainly a control blade until my opponent hits hard, or I try to open up, and then the speed kicks in.
The feel is not as good as most of the 7-ply wood blades I own, but the control on my backhand side is as good or even better than 7-ply wood. Fit and finish are good, but not superior.
I definitely recommend this blade. I wonder about the playing quality of the gear fiber only version of this blade. Recommended for LP players for sure.

My second paddle. I glued Rakza ZEH and Ventus to it, and it quickly became my favorite training tool.
Compared to the Butterfly Harimoto ALC, the ZXGi is slower, but it grips the ball better when hitting hard. Strong shots feel safer and more stable. It feels like a Korbel, but with more punch.

Beautiful workmanship.
Classic Offensive.
Lower flight curve.
Big sweet spot.
I would recommend it to players who play at the table. Further from the table, it loses its breath.
Good for short/long pips.
