Butterfly Harimoto Tomokazu Innerforce ALC
Blade description:
Construction and Build
The Harimoto Tomokazu Innerforce ALC is a composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction. It utilizes an “InnerLayer” design where the Arylate-Carbon (ALC) layers are placed closer to the core, rather than directly beneath the outer plies. This configuration, paired with limba outer veneers, results in a distinct “all-wood” feel that prioritizes touch and dwell time over the stiff, rigid sensation typical of outer-carbon blades.
Playing Characteristics
This blade is engineered for high-spin, controlled offensive play, particularly for close-to-the-table looping and counter-looping. Due to its internal carbon placement, the blade maintains a crisp and responsive feel during touch shots and blocking, but it requires active input from the player to engage the carbon layers for maximum speed. It is characterized by high dwell time, which facilitates heavy spin generation on top-spin strokes.
Performance and Recommendations
The blade features a slightly larger head size compared to standard blades, which contributes to a more head-heavy balance and increased stability during defensive and blocking maneuvers. While the blade is highly versatile, it is sensitive to rubber selection. Users note that pairing this blade with softer, slower rubbers can lead to a sluggish response; consequently, it is best suited for players who utilize medium-to-hard sponge rubbers (such as 47-50 degree tensors or hard Japanese/Chinese rubbers) to unlock its full power potential. It is generally recommended for spin-oriented attackers who value consistency and placement over raw, direct speed.

Mine is 88 grams with Rasanter R48 on the forehand and Tenergy 19 on the backhand. I previously used the Lin Gaoyuan ALC. Based on my style and level, this blade is perfect. It offers great control and spin, while still being fast enough. It excels at flicks, loops, and even flat shots with spin. While very controllable, if paired with hard 48-52 degree rubbers, the speed and spin are excellent. Dignics 05 is too expensive but perfect. Victas V22 will be my next forehand rubber as it’s quite similar to D05. I intend to try Joola Dynarys ACC on the backhand instead of T19. I hope this setup will perform well. Overall, I prefer the Harimoto Innerforce ALC to the Lin Gaoyuan and Viscaria.

This blade is a spin machine, producing a tremendous amount of spin. I tested it with Dignics 09c on the forehand and Tenergy 05fx on the backhand.
It provides a crisp feeling when blocking. However, if you are seeking a direct trajectory shot, it requires more adjustment due to the softer wood and ALC carbon positioning, which result in a longer dwell time.

I use the Harimoto blade with two Joola Rhyzen ZGR rubbers. I can confidently say that it is the best blade I have ever used, surpassing the Timo Boll ALC, Viscaria, and Primorac Carbon. However, the Harimoto blade requires hard rubber; if you use soft rubber, your racket will become slow. The Harimoto blade generates a significant amount of topspin, making it ideal for topspin attackers who also prioritize blocking capabilities.
