This is a 5-plywood blade by Yinhe. It is the first generation of the N series (All Wood) by Yinhe. The top ply is Koto.

I paired this blade with Mercury II Hard (Black) on the forehand and 729 Soft (Red) on the backhand. Surprisingly, it felt soft. It didn’t feel stiff or hard. This was unusual because it was the first time I had found an All Wood blade with such a soft touch. There was no vibration, and the sound was good, with no hollow sound and a firm composition.

The only drawback is the weight. Mine weighed almost 99 grams. When paired with both rubbers, the total weight became 200 grams (including resin side tape, which weighed around 4 grams). The thickness is around 7mm.

Compared to the second generation, the N-8s, I found that they differed in stiffness, hardness, and sound. The N-8s is lighter in weight, but I prefer the sound of the N-1.

I’m glad I purchased this blade, and I plan to keep it as long as I like it. It is a pleasant discovery.

Mine indeed has a specific “soft” feeling due to its thickness (7 mm). However, it actually has a hard surface with very little flex. The sweet spot is rather large, with enough power on hard drives. All these characteristics are typical of a thick 5-ply wood.
