Yinhe N-9s
Blade description:
This all-wood offensive blade is constructed with five layers, featuring Koto outer plies. The use of Koto provides a crisp, firm contact that is slightly harder than Limba-topped alternatives, facilitating an efficient energy transfer when paired with both tacky Chinese rubbers and modern tensioned sheets. The blade is designed for a linear performance, offering a stable and predictable feel during aggressive exchanges.
Playing Characteristics
- Performance: The blade excels in looping and counter-looping, allowing for significant spin generation and an “extra bite” on the ball. Its structure provides a generous sweet spot, making it forgiving for learners and effective for amateur offensive play.
- Control and Feel: Feedback is described as short and clear, with moderate vibration. While some users note a degree of stiffness, others highlight a functional level of flex when the blade is engaged during topspin strokes. The non-reactive nature of the blade at low impact speeds assists in short-game control, pushing, and touch shots.
- Physical Properties: The blade has a moderate weight (typically around 85–90 grams) and is noted for having a comfortable, ergonomic handle design. Its build quality is highly regarded for its price point, offering a solid feel for a variety of offensive strategies including blocking, flat hitting, and mid-to-long distance driving.

I found this blade to be very cheap. Not only pricewise, but also in terms of construction. It has no flex because of its thick core, making it suitable for hitters but not for looper blades. If you’re looking for a looper blade, I recommend the Yinhe Earth series instead. Having used both, I prefer the Earth series by far. I would only recommend this blade for players looking for a very linear blade.
Update: This blade actually does have some flex when engaged, and looping is possible. It’s a decent blade, especially for penhold players. I would slightly adjust my previous statement to say that I recommend it for players looking for a relatively stiff blade.
