My Journey in Table Tennis:
Started at 7 years old, I have competed on the Portuguese National Circuit since that age until I was 18. I resumed playing at 23 and competed again for one year. Now at 40, I play occasionally for fun (17 years without competing!). However, I’ve started training hard again and plan to compete on the regional circuit. This sport has been a part of my life for over 30 years.
My Setup:
I’ve never bought any equipment, but since the club doesn’t have a budget for us yet, I didn’t want to play with old, poor-quality equipment. I decided to buy something cheap and reliable to develop my game until the club provides me with better material. After extensive research, I purchased the Yinhe Uranus 2 from AliExpress and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a consistent blade with adequate power and good control. It doesn’t vibrate much, and the spins are low and fast. It performs best when used close to the table or at medium distance. Regarding rubbers, I am using Red Xiom Vega Europe Max for FH and Black Gewo Proton 375 Max for BH. This setup is excellent for players who want to develop their skills or for training, not for beginners. It’s affordable and effective.
My Advice for Users:
Don’t focus on having the best equipment; focus on practicing! Spending money on expensive gear without taking advantage of it is not wise.
I played with the Yinhe Uranus U2 for the first time for only a couple of hours. I would not call this an off blade; it’s more of an off- all+. I play with a very slow blade, Yasaka Classic, and I could feel a big difference in speed. But it did not affect my serves or any of my touch shots. I was able to push and block with no problem. I used Victas Extra Sticky 1.8mm on the forehand and Yinhe Pluto 1.8mm on the backhand. It felt solid, and the handle is a good size for an average-sized hand. I’m glad I got this blade for $20 on AliExpress.
Uranus pairs well with both soft and hard rubbers, such as Joola Mamba. It is an affordable option that offers excellent performance for a targeted group of players.
