Yinhe Y-2

Blade description:

The YinHe Y-2 is a composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction. It is designed for fast, offensive play at short to mid-table distances. While it possesses a high speed ceiling, the blade is characterized by a noticeable dwell time and provides clear, immediate feedback upon ball contact.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: Users report a softer, more communicative feel compared to other popular YinHe carbon models. The blade produces a distinct, loud sound during impact.
  • Stiffness and Dwell: Despite its speed, it is not excessively stiff, which contributes to the increased dwell time. This allows for better grip on the ball, provided it is paired with appropriate rubbers.
  • Weight and Balance: Weight varies significantly across individual units, with reported figures ranging from 83g to nearly 90g. Due to this variance, the final assembly weight can fluctuate based on the choice of rubber and sponge thickness.

Recommendations for Setup

  • Rubber Pairing: To optimize performance, softer rubbers are recommended to capitalize on the blade’s dwell time. Pairing the Y-2 with excessively hard, thick rubbers may result in a lack of dwell and a heavy overall setup that is difficult to maneuver.
  • Versatility: With the correct rubber selection, the blade can function as an All+ to Off+ option, offering a balance of consistency and offensive capabilities that serves as a cost-effective alternative to premium-priced professional blades.

Almost 90 g, very loud noise, very good feedback, a little bit more control than T-2

Mine has 89 g, so it’s quite heavier than the max tolerance limit stated by Galaxy (85 g).

I made a “test” bat with it, with a training Haifu Whale III in FH and a 729-5 in BH (both 2.2 mm), and these were both not good choices. HWIII is too heavy, although it can load lots of spin (for a few days the rubber sweated liquid and was very sticky until it eventually dried…) and 729-5 is too low throw for me.

In the end, the bat has around 190 g, which is too heavy for my taste (I like balsa blades ;-)), and so perhaps the bad choice of rubbers makes me grade Y-2 lower than previous reviewers. The Y-2 weightquite higher than the tolerance is the chief reason for my disappointment.

I recently purchased the Y-2 blade based on a positive review I read, and I must say that I agree completely with the assessment. It provides excellent dwell time, is fast without being excessive, and offers superb control. I had been searching for a blade that would complement Tenergy, but I was not willing to invest in a Boll Spirit. I have found that the Y-2 fits my needs perfectly. I have equipped it with Tenergy 80 2.1 red on the backhand and Xiom Sigma Euro Max black on the forehand. This combination has proven to be exceptional, delivering immediate improvement in my game performance.
