DHS Skyline 3

Rubber description:

Characteristics and Performance

The DHS Skyline 3 is a classic, sticky Chinese rubber known for its hard sponge and tacky topsheet. It provides a distinct, stiff feel that excels in the short game, allowing players to execute precise drop shots and effective service returns. Because of its tacky surface and good dwell time, it generates significant spin, making it a strong choice for players who prioritize spin-heavy loops and a varied short-to-mid-distance game.

Technical Features

  • Speed and Control: The rubber is highly linear, meaning it rewards players with the speed they put into their own strokes; it can be very slow for touch shots and blocking, yet fast during aggressive loops and smashes. It is generally considered easier to control than many counterparts in the Hurricane series.
  • Trajectory: It features a notably low throw angle, which helps in countering opponent topspin and driving the ball with precision.
  • Playability: This rubber is well-suited for active, technical players who possess proper swing mechanics. It is not an “automatic” rubber for passive players, as it requires a full swing and committed wrist motion to reach its full potential.
  • Versatility: Beyond its traditional use as a forehand weapon for looping, many users find it effective for backhand play, flat hitting, and flicking once the racket angle is adjusted to accommodate its specific, low-arc flight characteristics.

Somehow, this rubber TG3, while somewhat tacky, still supports aggressive smashes. Flat hits, flicks, counter smashes, all work well once you set the racket angle, and the blocks are not as slow as TG2. I have made this my main forehand rubber now, since it allows me to play a wider range of shots aggressively than TG2, even though it isn’t as spinny. It is definitely worth a look by people using Hurricane to see whether they prefer this to Hurricane or not. I prefer this, but I can understand different takes either way.

I really like this rubber. The throw angle is low, and the speed is nice (faster than other tacky Chinese rubbers). I tried it on my forehand this time. I will play with this sheet until it wears out, and then I will probably switch back to Skyline 2 (my usual rubber). The spin is not as good as Skyline 2, but it is fast.

I think this is solidly better than the Hurricane rubbers, and I will try it on my backhand soon.

It has decent power, but I expected better spin. It remains hard even after using 2-3 layers of booster.
