Rubber description:

This is a Chinese rubber characterized by a dense, hard sponge and a surface that provides a mixture of initial tackiness and reliable grip. Unlike modern European tensors, this rubber lacks a built-in catapult effect, requiring the player to generate their own power through active strokes. It is noted for its stability and high level of control, particularly in the short game, making it an effective choice for pushing, chopping, and blocking.

Performance and Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Power: The rubber offers moderate to high speed depending on the specific sponge hardness chosen, but it lacks the “top gear” associated with speed-glued or tensor-style rubbers. It performs best for players who prioritize precise, controlled attacks over raw, effortless speed.
  • Spin and Dwell: The top sheet provides excellent spin potential for serves and loops, especially when the rubber is new. While the initial surface tackiness may diminish over time, the rubber remains reliably grippy, allowing for consistent shot-making without stalling.
  • Control and Feel: Due to the absence of a catapult effect, the rubber provides a linear response, which many users find beneficial for backhand play, service returns, and tactical play. The sponge is generally firm, requiring proper technique to engage, but it rewards the user with high stability in defensive and neutral exchanges.
  • Versatility: The rubber is highly durable and functions well for close-to-table play. Because of its lack of mechanical tension, it is often favored by players who prefer to dictate the tempo of a point rather than relying on high-arc, high-catapult shots.

Used the red one, with maximum thickness on the backhand.
The sponge is rated at 45 degrees, but it doesn’t feel that hard.
There is no catapult effect, the speed is medium, and the control is very good. However, I still didn’t like it, as it felt like it was lacking something… I suppose this rubber would only be suitable when used with fast glue or Chinese booster.

Very good rubber, but not an excellent choice for championship plays.

Hard sponge (around 48 degrees), providing excellent control for short pushes, chops, and blocks. Topspins are feasible but require good technique. Hitting is effective but not excessively fast. Suitable as a backhand rubber to slow the game’s pace and disrupt opponents with short pushes. Notably performs well in service returns against high-level players (tested against a B4 class Belgian player rated approximately 2400 USATT). No catapult effect compared to German tensor rubbers.
