The Friendship/729 Faster 3 (Fenghun 3) is a well-regarded table tennis rubber that balances speed, spin, and control, making it a popular choice among players looking for performance at an affordable price point. Rated with a speed of 12, spin of 12, and control of 12, this rubber strikes a fine balance that caters to both offensive and all-round playing styles. It is particulièrement distinguished by its adaptability, as it performs commendably on various blades and can suit both aggressive attackers and more strategic players.
In terms of tackiness, the Faster 3 has been rated at 6.2, indicating a moderate level of grip. Many users have noted that while the rubber exhibits decent initial tackiness, it tends to wear off after a couple of months of use, which could affect its durability. Weighing in at 4.9, it is considered a medium-weight rubber, making it manageable for players who prefer a slight heft without compromising on speed and control.
Durability is rated at a commendable 7.9, suggesting a solid lifespan for players who take care of their equipment. However, the consensus among some reviews indicates that the rubber may not hold its performance characteristics over extended periods, especially regarding tackiness. Players seeking alternative options may want to consider the 729-08 Provincial model, as many reviewers expressed interest in switching to it for potentially enhanced performance.
Overall, the Friendship/729 Faster 3 offers an excellent entry to mid-range rubber choice for players looking to refine their skills while still engaging in competitive play. Its combination of speed, control, and relative affordability positions it as a strong competitor in the market.
One of the best rubbers I’ve used.
I’ve been using this rubber for 3 months now, with Tenergy 05 on FH and the Yinhe N-9 blade.
To be honest, it’s really good rubber for its price ($12). It has very good control and good speed, but its spin isn’t so good, at least not when compared to Tenergy 05. It’s also not as tacky as reviews say, and after 2 months, it already lost almost all of its tackiness, so it’s not that durable.
I’m probably going to go with 729-08 Provincial next to test that one out.
Don’t be misled by reviews like I was.
It is not tacky by any means. The throw is low. The speed and control rating are probably about right, but the spin is not high. I even did the standard spin test: bouncing while angling the blade in hand, which gives an immediate approximation of throw and spin. When I actually got to play with it, my opinion didn’t change. I might try Higher III next…
