Yasaka Xtend HS

Rubber description:

Yasaka Xtend HS is a highly regarded table tennis rubber that successfully combines speed, control, and usability, making it particularly favored for backhand play. With impressive ratings such as a speed score of 9.3 and a spin rating of 9.3, this rubber is engineered for players who thrive on fast, aggressive playstyles while maintaining precise control. The rubber features a soft sponge hardness of 2.4, contributing to its forgiving nature, which helps players achieve a strong connection with the ball during various strokes.

When it comes to tackiness, Xtend HS scores moderately at 2.2, indicating that while it can generate spin, it may not match the spin levels of some other rubbers out there. Weighing in at a medium weight of 3.5, it feels comfortable during play without being burdensome. Reviews frequently highlight the rubber’s excellent control and feedback, making it ideal for close-to-the-table situations where quick reactions are essential. Players appreciate the distinctive “click” sound produced during powerful hits, which enhances the overall experience.

In terms of durability, Xtend HS has a durability score of 6.7, suggesting that it may not last as long as some stiffer alternatives, which can be a consideration for frequent players. Those who prefer to attack rather than play defensively will find this rubber beneficial. As alternatives, players looking for similar characteristics might consider other Yasaka rubbers or options like the Mark V, which offers a comparable feel but with slightly different performance traits. Overall, the Yasaka Xtend HS remains a top choice for players seeking a balance of speed, control, and enjoyable feedback during play.

Great rubber for backhand (BH). I think it is the best rubber for BH that I have ever tried. It is fast, yet very controllable; spinny but linear. It is soft and light in weight. My BH play has improved substantially with this rubber; attacking, blocking, and flipping became simple with Xtend HS. You must try it.

Speed is fast, but spin is poor. Control is average. The sponge feels soft, but durability is not good. Looping is great on a high-flex blade and really fast on a stiff off+ rated blade. However, spin is the same on both blades.

Not my favorite. I was expecting more speed and less spin.
