Yinhe Jupiter

Rubber description:

This rubber is categorized as a sticky (tacky) rubber. It is characterized by a high throw angle and significant spin potential, making it well-suited for heavy topspin loops and creating substantial backspin during defensive chopping. Players report that it performs optimally when paired with stiff, fast carbon blades, where it demonstrates excellent control and consistent speed.

Performance and Maintenance

The rubber features a grippy, tacky surface that requires frequent cleaning with water or foam cleaner to maintain its surface friction; without regular maintenance, the tackiness fades quickly. When clean, the rubber provides high levels of spin and bite on the ball. As the initial tackiness diminishes through play, the rubber undergoes a performance shift, often feeling faster and playing more like a conventional non-tacky offensive rubber.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed: Capable of high-speed loops and attacking play, particularly when paired with stiff blades. It can become quite reactive when hit with high force, requiring careful adjustment to prevent the ball from sailing long.
  • Spin: Offers strong spin generation, capable of producing heavy topspin and backspin.
  • Versatility: While frequently used as a forehand weapon for looping, it is also noted as an effective backhand rubber for players seeking an attacking kick in shots away from the table. It is widely considered a value-oriented option for beginner to amateur players looking for high-performance characteristics.

I used this cheap rubber in my first setup with a Tuttle Nightmare blade and Yinhe Mercury on the backhand. It is very suitable for the forehand, offering the right throw angle for me and performing exceptionally well on hard blades.

However, the tackiness wears off quickly. Once it has worn down, the rubber becomes exceedingly fast. I can execute heavy loops without much effort, and it really feels comparable to Tenergy 90.

One thing to note is to avoid applying too much force when hitting, as the ball frequently goes out if struck too forcefully. On the other hand, it chops very well and can generate heavy backspins. This rubber is great for those who seek speed in their shots.

This rubber performs very well; however, it simply does not suit my blade. I definitely agree with other reviewers that the throw angle is high and the spin production is impressive. Unfortunately, the tackiness fades away very quickly, and after just a few sessions, it becomes comparable to a standard European tensor rubber.

Interestingly, I initially paired this rubber with Mars II, placing it on the forehand side due to its tacky surface. However, once the tacky effect wore off, I realized that this rubber is actually faster than Mars II. As a result, I moved it to the backhand side to take advantage of its speed.

I must disagree with the speed ratings provided, as I found this rubber to be slower than Mars II, which is why I purchased it in the first place. I feel misled and have been left dissatisfied because of that. Even the seller informed me that it is slower than Mars II. Consequently, I rated it a 10 to somewhat mitigate the overall score; yet my true rating for speed would be around 9.0.

Nonetheless, this rubber remains a great choice for beginner and amateur-level players who need an extra boost in their shots away from the table, particularly on the backhand side.

This rubber needs to be paired with the right racket. I really like it on the Yinhe N4! When installed correctly on the right racket, this rubber produces incredibly high-speed loops that can catch the edge of the table.

However, it requires frequent cleaning. Water works well for this purpose; it effectively removes dust and restores the tackiness. If your smashing loops start to fly over the table, it’s probably time for a quick clean.

Overall, this is one of my favorite rubbers so far.
