Yinhe Jupiter 2

Rubber description:

Classification

Hybrid (Tacky Chinese-style rubber with a factory-tuned sponge).

Playing Characteristics

  • Spin and Grip: This rubber features a light-to-medium tacky topsheet that provides strong grip for loops, drives, and serves. While it is highly capable of generating significant topspin through active Chinese-style brush-looping motions, it requires a powerful, aggressive stroke to engage the sponge and maximize its potential. It is noticeably sensitive to incoming spin, which requires adjustments during the short game and blocking.
  • Speed and Control: Jupiter II is a factory-tuned, offensive rubber. It offers a “geared” performance where the speed increases in proportion to the force applied by the player. It provides high levels of control for an offensive sheet, performing reliably in blocks, pushes, and serves. However, it is not recommended for passive play, as the sponge requires active force to produce effective results.
  • Throw Angle and Feel: The rubber produces a medium-to-high throw angle, which can be advantageous for lifting heavy underspin but may require technique adjustments for blocking or pushing. The sponge, typically found in 38-degree or 39-degree hardness (DHS scale), offers a crisp, responsive, and relatively soft feeling compared to traditional, harder Chinese rubbers, allowing for good feedback during ball contact.

Usage Recommendations

  • Application: Primarily favored as a forehand rubber, though some players find success using it on the backhand, particularly on specific blade combinations.
  • Skill Level: Best suited for intermediate to advanced players who possess the technical proficiency for full-arm, brushing strokes. It is generally not recommended for beginners.
  • Maintenance: The rubber is durable and maintains consistent performance over time. While the factory-applied booster provides significant initial performance, the sponge remains responsive to additional aftermarket boosting. Due to its tacky nature, the use of protective sheets is recommended to preserve grip.

I used 39º Chinese hardness. A typical tacky Chinese rubber, but with enough speed and a lot of control. It’s perfect for fast balls with a special topspin. Despite being tacky Chinese, it has a lot of spin and a low trajectory. I love the sound of this rubber when I hit the ball with power.

It’s also a good rubber for a backhand. It surprised me, and for a time, I used a blade with Jupiter II on both sides with a nice performance. It’s very durable.

Overall, it’s a very nice and cheap rubber.

The best:

  • The control
  • The sound
  • The price
  • The difficult spin for the opponent

The worst:

  • The game close to the net

Yinhe Jupiter H.39 black is a great choice for my forehand. It offers excellent control and can produce amazing spin if you have good technique.
