This is the hardest and fastest Jpen blade I have tried. When glued with Moristo SP of 2.0 thickness, I found it challenging to control. I appreciate the feel of kiri-core blades with short pips, but the carbon in this one makes it difficult to sense the ball and maintain proper timing. The hinoki outer plies are excessively thin (less than 0.5 mm), which exacerbates the issue. I believe it may perform better with soft, spinny inverted rubber to counterbalance the blade’s inherent hardness. I used the “R” version, not the “S,” but I presume the characteristics are comparable for both shapes.

This blade is good and fast, but it should be used with control rubbers such as Mark V, Sriver D13, or Sriver EL. Hard sponge rubbers are not a good choice for this blade because it is already fast, and this would make it difficult to control.

My friend gave this one to me. His father used this one a long time ago. I could not get this one working until I got a rubber with better control. The blade is fast! Now I like it.
