The Butterfly Boll TriCarbon is a fast, aggressive table tennis blade that caters specifically to advanced players seeking speed and power. Engineered with a unique composition of six wood plies and three carbon plies, including outer layers made of paduk wood, this blade boasts remarkable speed capabilities while maintaining solid stability. With an overall rating of 9.1, it has become a favorite for offensive players who rely on forceful attacks and quick responses at the table.
Weighing in at 95g with a thickness of 6.9mm, the Boll TriCarbon is classified as a heavy blade, which can initially feel cumbersome for less experienced players. Its stiffness is rated at 8.2, contributing to its rapid ball speed but leaving some users to note a compromise in control. While many players appreciate the powerful, fast-paced shots achievable with this blade, others find that it can be challenging to manage due to its quickness and lack of feedback on softer strokes. Due to the high speed, it is recommended to pair the blade with softer rubbers to mitigate the lack of control and enhance spin.
As for alternatives, players often seek blades with a more balanced speed-control ratio when looking for options apart from the Boll TriCarbon. The Butterfly lineup includes various models, some designed specifically for better handling and control. For players who prefer a slightly slower response with more control on touch balls, examining models like the Butterfly Timo Boll ALC or the Donic Ovtcharov Premium might be worthwhile. The Boll TriCarbon, with its exceptional speed, remains a legendary choice for advanced offensive players looking to dominate their opponents.
It is a good blade, but it has its issues. The material is a bit too fast for its own good. The balance is not so high, which can undermine the overall rating.

My overall rating for this blade is 10. My previous rating of 4 was deleted, which made me upset enough to almost delete my profile. However, I don’t write reviews for personal gain.
I generally like Butterfly products, but this blade was a mistake. It’s incredibly fast and stiff, and it’s prone to cracking if you’re not careful. It has poor control compared to other very fast OFF+ rated blades. If you want a blade that will expose your mistakes, this is a great choice.
I forgot to mention, this blade is banned by the ITTF, which is another negative. Overall, I would give this blade a rating of 3.
The hardest, quickest, stiffness blade I have ever played. I thought it would be a good idea to play with LP on the backhand in order to increase the offensive capacity and it did. Any hit was a kill, but FC with inverse rubber, I did not manage this problem besides the idea of having the table 2 meters longer than it is. As I see it right now maybe with slow anti-spin rubber on FC and LP on BC, but I see no reason for making such an experiment.
