Composite/carbon
It is a good blade, but it has its issues. The material is a bit too fast for its own good. The balance is not so high, which can undermine the overall rating.

My overall rating for this blade is 10. My previous rating of 4 was deleted, which made me upset enough to almost delete my profile. However, I don’t write reviews for personal gain.
I generally like Butterfly products, but this blade was a mistake. It’s incredibly fast and stiff, and it’s prone to cracking if you’re not careful. It has poor control compared to other very fast OFF+ rated blades. If you want a blade that will expose your mistakes, this is a great choice.
I forgot to mention, this blade is banned by the ITTF, which is another negative. Overall, I would give this blade a rating of 3.
The hardest, quickest, stiffness blade I have ever played. I thought it would be a good idea to play with LP on the backhand in order to increase the offensive capacity and it did. Any hit was a kill, but FC with inverse rubber, I did not manage this problem besides the idea of having the table 2 meters longer than it is. As I see it right now maybe with slow anti-spin rubber on FC and LP on BC, but I see no reason for making such an experiment.
I don’t like the design of the handle at all. I had a newer version with the green plastic sticker, and it felt terrible. The material is cheap and very uncomfortable in the hand. I resold it as soon as possible.
I played with it for a little while, and it’s OK, but not “special.”
Don’t use that with fast rubbers because it has enough speed.
The blade has a nice size and weight. The Wooden Material is softer than other wood blades and this means it has a great feeling. It’s perfect for close-to-the-table gameplay, as it provides good control.
It’s also very responsive, So providing a good amount of dwell time.
If you’re looking for a blade that will give you good control and feeling, this is a great option. However, if you’re looking for a blade with more power, you may want to look elsewhere.
I have used this blade. It is made for my type of game play. Its speed, spin, and control are amazing. If you put the right rubbers on it, it will be a monster. I play with Tibhar Aurus on both sides. For me, it is amazing. I should say it is the right choice for an offensive player.
Comparing to other brand’s TriCarbon blades, the Butterfly one gives good control with extreme speed. It’s a really good looping blade.
I have to agree with most of the above comments. The blade is very fast and heavy. Avoid using it with Tenergy, as the sponge will make it so you have no feeling. Instead, try Joola Energy Xtra for all-out attack with good feeling.
Many of my opponents said, “Man, that ball passed through the net?! Where is the hole?” Yes, I can tell you, you can combine a very fast looping with a precise stop-ball, but with some consequences to knees and ankles. Butterfly should again put this blade into production.
It’s not a nice blade. It’s too fast with no control. You can break it very easily by hitting the ball. Even 200-300 strong smashes can break it.
This blade is very fast, causing control to be inadequate for some players. To use this blade effectively, you should have a high level of table tennis technique. If your skill level is not advanced, the blade’s speed may be excessive.
I have tried many blades, and this one stands out as being the fastest I have played with.
This blade is terrible. It’s only suitable for someone who is unwilling to put in the effort to learn how to spin the ball and wants the paddle to do all the work for them.
It is good for the type of play that it is made for, thus the overall rating of 9. No control at all, but incredible speed.
Perfect blade for an off+ player. My mistake was that I started using it with Tenergy 05 FX, FH and Bryce Hard, BH and it was a disaster. It was good to play but sometimes I was out of control. My shots were going off the table but when I attacked close to the table no one could take my shots they were too hard.
So I got CERMET 1.3mm for my BH and now I am doing much better. More control with CERMET and killing with my Tenergy 05 Fx.
Overall the racket helps a lot. It’s faster than anything else and the sound it makes is a winner for my ears.
I like this blade but would like to try the newer version to see if there is any difference. Weights vary, and the head size is large, but you can always cut them down if you want to.
Most people use softer rubbers with this type of blade, but I use a very hard sponge rubber from Donic, Coppa Speed. Because of the speed of the rubber and blade, you get some reward for attacking first. Not too many better blades around for attacking.
Try one and find out for yourself.
Man, it is a very good blade with Bryce Speed rubbers.
This is the fastest, hardest, stiffest, and heaviest blade I’ve ever used. I personally prefer stiff blades over blades that are soft or hollow and provide feedback, so for me, the control was a dream.
Hmmm… I use it with Tenergy 64 FH and a Sriver G3 Fx BH. With this setup, the blade gives me tremendous spin and drives on my forehand and my backhand serves are so heavy. However, it’s important to note that this blade is not suitable for beginners. When I first started using it, all my shots were very high. But after practicing with it, I can tell you that this blade is a killer racket!
I gave the blade an 8 because it’s very hard and provides good performance when paired with Big slam. However, the blade is not very durable and can easily start to flake apart if it comes into contact with the table or ground.
This is the best blade I have ever owned. I was previously using an old, stiff, hard DHS brick that was on the verge of falling apart. I tried several other blades (DHS carbon, 729 Bomb, Juic, etc.) to find a replacement, and I have finally found it!
It’s stiff and hard but smooth. I get a great ball sensation when the ball pops off the racket, and it doesn’t have that “pingy” carbon sound that many other blades I have tried have.
The strokes are smooth. I agree with others that the weight is a little lighter than advertised. However, since I like a heavy blade, I put heavy rubbers on it, and all is well.
Be warned! When I first started using this blade, I had hard rubber on the forehand. This was a mistake. I switched to a softer rubber (Yasaka Xtend) last week, and it is much better! Ball control is significantly improved without losing much speed.
All in all, THANK YOU BUTTERFLY. I’m hooked.
Excellent blade, super killer.
I love this blade. It’s very fast, and the feeling is great. Talking about the control, I’m not having any problems performing the strokes. I can put the ball wherever I want to. I’m using it with Tenergy 05 on my forehand and backhand. I love the combination. The topspins are crazy fast and spinny. Pushes are okay. Serves are okay. The only thing is performing loops from a long distance. It’s very bouncy, and you have to be careful. But with this blade, I feel that I can do whatever crazy shot I want. Regarding the weight, with the Tenergys, it’s a bit heavy but manageable. But you won’t care about a bit of weight. It will be a great paddle.
The blade is smooth as butter. It’s a big step up from what I had before, the Joola K5. The Killer Blade has me hooked again.
Man, what a blade! This is a very good blade in terms of speed, but it also has relatively good control. The blade is very forgiving for me because of the very large sweet spot from the three layers of carbon. You’ve also got a crisp feeling from the outer plies because of the paduk wood. I use it with Coppa JO Silver FH and JO Platin BH, and they work amazingly for me. I would highly recommend this blade. Just buy it!
I’ve used several blades, and this one stands out as my favorite. Some argue that the rubbers are more important than the blade. However, this blade makes a significant difference. Butterfly rates the Boll TriCarbon as its fastest blade, and I concur. The three carbon layers, inner balsa layers, and hard outer Paduk layers contribute to exceptional speed while maintaining remarkable control. This balance is achieved through the enlarged sweet spot enabled by the carbon layers and the responsiveness of the balsa wood.
While the control isn’t exceptional on its own, it surpasses expectations for such a fast blade. All-round (control-based) or speed-based rubbers complement this blade well. Soft rubbers are also suitable. Control rubbers compensate for any perceived lack of control. I use Yasaka Mark V, which I find to be a successful pairing. High Tension rubbers from Butterfly enhance the blade’s speed potential. Soft rubbers naturally increase control regardless of speed.
Spin-based rubbers may not be the ideal choice, particularly hard spinny ones. The blade’s speed causes the ball to leave the racket too quickly for optimal spin. However, personal preferences may vary.
For my playing style, Butterfly Boll TriCarbon is exceptional. I have yet to find a better option. Unless you engage in slow looping or defensive play, I highly recommend this blade.
Finally, it’s lighter than Butterfly claims. The weight distribution is well-balanced, making it easy to handle. Perhaps I received a slightly lighter one unintentionally.
Hello.
This is the fastest blade from Butterfly. This subject has great power, speed, and quality. But this blade is only for professional players with long experience, I think. The handle has a little problem with comfort, but it’s not so much. So, it’s a great choice for off+ players with ideal game technique…
I have never had a blade that is as fast as this one, and I’ve found that Butterfly consistently makes the highest quality for the lowest price. I would never buy anything but Butterfly. I recommend a softer sponge, though, or you will not be able to generate much spin.
This actually was one of the first blades I bought, as I was inexperienced and did not realize the tremendous speed it had. I actually had to store it and work my way up to it by going through cheaper and slower blades.
However, now that I have grown used to it, it is the only one I play with and is lightning fast. I recommend this as a more advanced blade, not for those starting in proline, but as about a fourth or fifth blade.
Great blade for smashing and killing. Plenty of power to loop, but you must get your dwell from soft rubbers, as the blade will not give you much. If you plan on looping with this, a 38-degree sponge is about the hardest I’d go. Weight must vary because I got a light one compared to the 95-gram manufacturers' spec.
