Butterfly Fan Zhendong Super ALC
Blade description:
The Fan Zhendong Super ALC is a high-performance composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction. It is designed for offensive play, characterized by a significant increase in speed and acceleration compared to traditional Arylate-Carbon blades like the Viscaria or the standard Fan Zhendong ALC. The blade offers a large sweet spot, which contributes to stability during aggressive play, although it maintains a demanding nature that requires advanced technique to manage its power output.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Dwell Time: Despite its high speed, the blade offers notable ball retention and dwell time, providing a more distinct feel than many other outer-composite blades. While some users report a crisp, responsive feel, others note that the high “bounce” and reactive nature of the blade can make short game and delicate touch shots challenging for less experienced players.
- Stiffness and Flexibility: The blade exhibits a balance of stiffness required for speed and a degree of flexibility that aids in generating spin. The handle design is typically described as thinner and flatter in the flared (FL) version compared to other Butterfly models, which may impact grip preference.
- Synergy with Rubbers: The performance of this blade is highly dependent on rubber selection. It is frequently noted to pair best with harder, hybrid-style rubbers, which utilize the blade’s throw angle and acceleration to maximize spin and offensive potential. Conversely, using overly soft or high-rebound tensor rubbers can make the blade feel excessively bouncy and difficult to control.
This blade is intended for advanced players who possess the technical consistency to control its high energy return, particularly in offensive loops, drives, and blocks. It is generally not recommended for beginners or intermediate players still developing fundamental touch and stroke mechanics.

A faster version of the FZD ALC and Viscaria, without compromising control and feel. It also boasts a greater sweet spot. My blade weighs 91 grams (FL handle) and I’m using it with Dignics 09C 2.1 on the forehand and Dignics 05 1.9 on the backhand.

Using it with FH Battle II and BH Victas Limber. It has a longer dwell time relative to Viscaria, hence better control. Combining it with the tackiest rubber 729 Battle II enhances its dwell time even further. With softer rubber on BH Victas Limber, it makes the high speed of the blade controllable.
I enjoy this combination for blocking, flicking, looping, and driving any kind of ball that comes my way.

I was trying out this bat from a teammate for three weeks. However, I would not recommend this bat.
It is overly bouncy, uncomfortable, and uncontrollable. I had sticky new DHS PFF4 on it. When I returned the bat and put them on my Yinhe blade, it felt good. In contrast, this Fan Ze Dong blade is a waste of money.
