Butterfly Firehand
Blade description:
This all-wood blade is engineered for high-intensity offensive play, functioning as an exceptionally fast and hard-feeling instrument. Due to its rigid composition and lack of significant dwell time, the blade excels in direct play, particularly in blocking and smashing scenarios where speed is the primary objective. It is designed for advanced players who favor an all-out attacking style rather than those requiring high levels of touch or precision in the short game.
Performance Characteristics
- Speed and Dwell: The blade delivers extreme speed, characterized by a crisp, “tacky” sound upon impact. The contact time is very short, which limits the ability to generate heavy spin during short loops or delicate touch shots.
- Feel and Stiffness: It possesses a distinctively hard feel with minimal flex. This stiffness makes it challenging to control for players who rely on holding the ball to produce deep, high-arc loops.
- Weight and Balance: While user experiences vary regarding weight distribution, it is generally noted for being a heavy, high-velocity attacking weapon.
- Suitability: It is not recommended for beginners. Users seeking to improve control while utilizing this blade are advised to pair it with softer rubbers to compensate for the blade’s inherent rigidity and lack of dwell time.

The blade’s construction and composition have been meticulously designed to maximize ball speed and spin, allowing for devastating shots that keep opponents on their toes. Its rigid construction provides excellent stability and control, ensuring precision and consistency even during the most intense rallies. For players seeking an offensive edge, this blade is an exceptional choice.

It is not a good blade for beginners, as it is too hard and too fast. When looping, the ball does not stay on the blade long enough. However, if you are still using this blade, using a softer rubber may be beneficial.
