Butterfly Gergely Alpha
Blade description:
The Butterfly Gergely Alpha is a 3+2 construction composite blade featuring Cypress outer layers, Carbon Fiber secondary layers, and a balsa center ply. Designed as a more compact and maneuverable evolution of the classic Gergely carbon blade, it is specifically engineered to accommodate the weight of modern, thicker table tennis rubbers. Its reduced head size contributes to faster swing speeds, making it well-suited for aggressive offensive play from mid-to-far distance.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Stiffness: This is a very stiff, hard-feeling blade characterized by a noticeable lack of vibration. The composition provides a distinct, clean sound upon ball contact.
- Performance: It delivers significant power, categorized as a high-speed offensive blade. Despite its pace, it offers reliability in blocking and power-looping scenarios.
- Handling and Control: Due to the stiff nature and compact head, the blade rewards players with established technique and is generally not recommended for beginners. Precise short-game control requires practice, though the blade is considered accurate and consistent once mastered.
- Equipment Pairing: The blade pairs effectively with soft to medium-density rubbers, which help compensate for its inherent stiffness and provide better dwell time for spin generation. It is widely considered an excellent match for high-tension, modern attacking rubbers.

It is really pleasant to use. The wood is very hard, but it is light to use.

Good blade, but it requires significant playing time to achieve good control. Fast blade with a good choice of rubbers can enhance your level of play. It may not be suitable for beginners, but it’s a solid choice for intermediate players.
