Butterfly Kong Linghui Special
Blade description:
This is an Arylate-Carbon (ALC) composite blade utilizing a 3+2 construction. It features Hinoki outer plies, which provide a distinct soft, wooden feel and a high-quality surface, despite the overall stiffness of the composite composition. The blade is known for being lightweight and for its minimal vibration, offering a consistent response across a large sweet spot.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Feedback: The blade is characterized by a soft, premium feel that provides excellent feedback for topspin loops and blocks. While the lack of vibration is a hallmark of the Arylate content, some players may find the tactile feedback diminished during very soft, delicate shots like flips.
- Speed and Power: The blade offers enough pace for decisive attacking, though it may lack the extreme “top gear” power found in heavier, more offensive-oriented options. It performs reliably during drives, loops, and precise placement, but is less suited for pure, high-impact smashing.
- Control and Versatility: It excels in technical, in-table, and short-game exchanges. The blade offers a lower throw angle than some comparable ALC models, yet still generates a functional arc for looping. It accommodates a variety of rubber types, including both Chinese and Euro/Japanese rubbers, though it performs best when paired with rubbers that are not excessively heavy.
Design and Build
- Construction: The 3+2 construction relies on a strong core and Hinoki plies to balance stiffness with a soft touch.
- Handle: The handle features a flat-oval shape, which some users find comfortable, though there have been mixed notes regarding the aesthetic quality of the handle wood and labels compared to the high standard of the blade face.

Old, black tag. A very, very good blade! A little stiff but with a soft feeling. Control is perfect with Tenergy 05 on FH and Donic Baracuda on BH. The throw angle is just a little lower than Viscaria, but it still has a very nice curve for topspin. Blocks, drives, and even chops are very easy to do and precise. Light weight, perfect control, excellent for topspin, superb feeling. What more could you expect from a blade?

3+2 ALC with AN handle. Unusual and unique feel since the beginning. It served me from around 2003 to 2005. I started using it when I was 9 years old for 3 years. It is very easy at blocking and driving. The rest is just okay. I have many sweet memories with this blade, having won several provincial competitions when I was little.
