The Butterfly Kreanga Carbon is a highly esteemed table tennis blade known for its exceptional speed, making it an ideal choice for aggressive players who favor a fast-paced game. This blade boasts a unique composition that incorporates carbon layers, providing an exhilarating blend of power and precision. The overall design emphasizes offensive play, allowing players to deliver powerful smashes and incisive loops from mid-distance with remarkable ease.
With a weight of 87 grams, the Kreanga Carbon is classified as a medium-weight blade, which strikes a perfect balance between speed and control. The stiffness rating of 7.5 contributes to a solid feel upon impact, while its hardness of 8.4 gives it that extra pop needed for aggressive stroke play. The blade’s thickness ensures a decent dwell time, enhancing the player’s touch during service returns despite its fast nature.
Players often remark about the blade’s flexibility and responsiveness, which are vital for executing precise shots. However, some users have noted that the extreme speed can sometimes come at the expense of control, particularly for touch shots or delicate placements. The catapult effect is pronounced, meaning that it is better suited for those with advanced technique who can harness its capabilities effectively.
For those looking for alternatives, while the Kreanga Carbon has been discontinued due to regulatory issues regarding its surface material, the Butterfly Holycrown may serve as a comparable option for players seeking a similar feel without the prohibitive paint. Ultimately, the Kreanga Carbon remains a sought-after blade for its unique combination of speed, control, and overall performance, leaving a lasting impression on many players who have had the chance to experience it.
Great blade for table tennis. It is a pity that it contains an amount of artificial materials that is not authorized for use by the table tennis federation. Quite tough and solid. If you are at the table investing in the ball, as Kalinikos does, then with this blade you can work wonders.
Blade: Butterfly Zhang Jike ZLC
Construction: 5-ply wood (hinoki outer, kiri core, ayous inner) with ZL Carbon fiber
Speed: Off+
Control: High
Weight: 85-90g
Thickness: 5.7mm
Flex: Medium stiff
Spin: Moderate
Feel: Crisp
Suitability: Offensive all-around players seeking good balance of speed and control.
Strengths: The Butterfly Zhang Jike ZLC blade offers a great combination of speed and control. It provides excellent spin and a crisp feel. The medium stiff flex makes it suitable for a wide range of playstyles.
Weaknesses: The blade can be slightly unforgiving for beginners due to its high speed and moderate spin. Its stiffness may also make it less suitable for defensive play.
As others have noted, gray paint is no longer allowed in tournaments. However, it can be sanded off. The racket has a superior speed, which, however, results in significantly reduced control when used with hard rubbers. An absolutely offensive racket that forgives little, but ensures hard and fast topspin hits.
