Butterfly Primo Vitesse
Blade description:
This blade features a 3+2 construction, utilizing thin carbon layers that provide a softer, wood-like feel compared to traditional high-speed composite blades. Its performance characteristics fall into the OFF- range, prioritizing controllability and stability over raw power. The blade is noted for its lightweight profile, which ensures maneuverability even when paired with heavier modern rubbers.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Feedback: Players report a distinct, crisp vibration upon impact, providing clear tactile feedback that is particularly useful for sensitive short-game touches, passive blocking, and reading incoming spin.
- Control and Versatility: The blade offers a balanced, predictable response with minimal catapult effect. This predictable nature allows for a wide range of rubber pairings, from soft tensors to harder, high-tension options.
- Tactical Utility: Due to its composition and feedback, it is highly effective for defensive blocking, punch blocks, and counter-looping. It is also well-regarded for its compatibility with long pimple rubbers, whether used with or without sponge.
- Operational Feel: While it provides enough speed for effective attacking play, it is not optimized for high-velocity smashes. Its strength lies in its consistency and the ease with which users can place the ball, making it a reliable tool for all-round offensive styles.

This was my primary blade for some time. I prefer the size of the head, at around 153mm x 149mm, so it doesn’t feel heavy even with two Tenergy rubbers attached. The blade provides soft feelings and good control, while its speed is comparable to OFF-. When paired with two boosted Tenergy rubbers, it plays like a top-notch blade. I sold it two years ago and have missed it ever since.
After playing with blades from other brands, I realize that most Butterfly blades are tuned down (like this one), which means less catapult effect and less surprise when you hit the ball hard. However, this is also a good attribute, as it allows for a wider range of rubbers to be used, from soft to hard ones. Unfortunately, this blade is discontinued, so it’s very hard to find a replacement.

I tried it in place of Jonyer H three years ago and am still playing with it. I am happy with its speed and control. It is lightweight and gives a feeling of vibration when I block power smashes.
I got it cheap at 35 Dollars from a local sports store. I wish to continue using it for another 3-4 years before shifting to Timo Boll blade.

The lightest blade I have ever owned, it has a bit of vibration from the ball due to its light weight. However, it is very controllable with Sriver and looks awesome.
