Butterfly Viscaria Golden

I am rating the blade regardless of the price tag. I own many pieces, and most of my kids play with that.

We tried hundreds of different blades from most manufacturers, both handmade and commercial, and I can safely say that this blade stands out.

It is the only blade with which I feel 100% confident when I play with any rubbers. I particularly like Tenergy 19 and Dignics (both sides) as well as H3 on Forehand.

Both the standard and FZD personal double code Viscaria Gold blades feel extremely safe on both drives, loops, and blocks. You can even occasionally chop with it. The blade is deadly on serves and feels extremely light, as if it’s an extension of your hand. It’s as quick as you want it to be, but certainly not the quickest blade by default (Ovtcharov’s personal blade or Lin Gaoyuan’s Viscaria are significantly quicker, for instance), but you can safely engage your body to make it as quick as you want.

Max speed is more than enough, though player’s W968 and Q968 are faster on max engagement… But max speed is easy to achieve, and the blade is much easier to use for FH and BH transitions.

It is the only blade that still makes me want to play, together with FZD Gold personal player version, which is a derivative of it.

It was love at first sight for me and still is. I would even recommend it to passionate beginners as some children in my club play it successfully and improve quickly (with sticky rubbers, it helps building good technique at a controllable pace).

But it’s really not for recreational players or small children (too quick for them).

If only I knew about this blade from the start, I would have saved huge amounts of money even with 30 of those blades (I have fortunately sold most of my old equipment). I would really pay any price to play with Viscaria Gold and regret that Butterfly doesn’t retail it worldwide.

So, that blade is not worth the price.
Still better regular Viscaria, or Lingaoyuan ALC, or Marcos Freitas ALC.

The blade is overpriced and only works well with Hurricane 3 blue sponge. It requires a certain amount of strength to play and has a muted feeling. Unless you are a professional player who wants a more forgiving blade than the normal Viscaria, it is unnecessary.

The blade has good weight balance, making it a comfortable choice for many players. I personally find it to be the best blade for my playing style.

However, it’s important to note that the “fish scale” grip is not recommended. This grip can be uncomfortable and may not provide the best level of control.
