Blade description:

The Lin Gaoyuan ALC is a 5+2 construction composite blade featuring an Arylate-Carbon weave. Known for its distinctively soft feel, this blade bridges the gap between the feedback of an all-wood blade and the stability of a composite model. It is characterized by high flexibility and a large sweet spot, which provides players with significant control and tactile feedback during touch shots and placement.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: Offers a soft, dampened touch that allows for clear ball feedback. Because it lacks the extreme stiffness found in some other ALC blades, players often find it easier to feel the ball during contact.
  • Speed and Power: While it provides sufficient pace for offensive play, it is generally considered moderate in speed. Its power is dynamic; it allows for high control during short, delicate play, while exhibiting a reliable catapult effect when using maximum force or specific tacky rubbers.
  • Consistency: The blade is noted for being highly consistent, making it suitable for looping, counter-attacking, and rallying from mid-to-long distance.
  • Weight and Handling: Typically weighs between 83g and 84g. The handle design facilitates quick transitions between forehand and backhand, though users should note that certain handle styles may have specific ergonomic lengths.

Recommendations

  • Rubber Pairing: Due to the blade’s soft nature, it is often paired with hard, fast rubbers to increase overall shot speed and minimize the risk of shots going long. Conversely, pairing it with high-catapult tension rubbers can make the blade feel very fast and aggressive, requiring a higher level of technical proficiency.
  • Skill Level: While some players find the consistency beneficial for developing technique, others note that the blade can be sensitive during blocking due to its flexibility. It is widely regarded as a versatile option that can suit a broad range of players, provided they understand how to balance the blade’s softness with their choice of rubbers.

This blade is phenomenal. Its sweet spot is expansive, minimizing errors. Despite sharing the same wood and carbon construction as the Viscaria, this blade possesses a softer feel while surpassing it in power.

The control it offers is remarkable, making blocking and playing at medium to long distances effortless. I highly recommend this extraordinary blade.

This blade is very slow, making it unsuitable for players with low strength. If you lack strength, you will need to pair it with a fast and hard rubber to get the most out of it. Overall, this blade is not recommended. The Yinhe v14 pro is a much faster option.

Hi, I’m an intermediate player. I played 15 years with BTF Maze ALC blade. LGY ALC is one of the best blades I have ever tried.

Personally, I like when the blade gives me feedback during the game, therefore this is not very hard, furthermore this is part of the ALC family. Great spin machine. Due to the flexibility for a blocking game its a bit sensitive. The counter attack and the short game is great with this blade. This is not super speedy, but fast enough. I guess this is fit also for a non-perfect technique players as well.
