The Butterfly Lin Gaoyuan ALC is a premium table tennis blade designed for players seeking a balance of speed, control, and feel. It features a sophisticated composition that includes a total of seven plies, integrating both carbon and wood layers to enhance performance characteristics. Specifically, the ALC (Arylate-Carbon) construction contributes to increased power and a larger sweet spot, making it particularly appealing for aggressive players who rely on rapid play and skillful looping.
With a medium weight of approximately 87 grams and a thickness of 5.7mm, the Lin Gaoyuan ALC is positioned as an OFF/OFF+ blade. It provides excellent speed ratings of 9.2, complemented by a control rating of 8.5, allowing players to execute precise shots without sacrificing offensive capabilities. The blade’s stiffness is moderate at 4.6, and the hardness is rated at 6, which offers a good balance for both defensive strokes and attacking play. Reviewers have noted its flexibility, lending itself well to various playing styles and tactical responses.
If you’re exploring alternatives, the Butterfly Timo Boll series or the Viscaria blades might be considered. However, many users express a preference for the Lin Gaoyuan ALC due to its softer touch and superior feedback during gameplay, making it ideal for mid to advanced players. While some novice players may find its speed intimidating, this blade is widely celebrated for its consistency across different strokes, making it a dream choice for those with solid techniques looking to elevate their game.
Lin Gaoyuan ALC is the softest blade among the ALC series from Butterfly. Its feel in the hand is similar to that of wooden blades without carbon. With this blade, you have a clear sense of what you are doing. In comparison to Viscaria, the feel in the hand is truly distinct, particularly for forehands. This blade is adept at control as well, allowing you to place the ball with precision anywhere on the table.
The only downside is its speed. Lin Gaoyuan ALC is only slower than Viscaria with significant force, not with smaller force.
I highly recommend everyone to give this blade a try, even beginners. The majority of players are bound to benefit from using the Lin Gaoyuan ALC.
The best blade here, but the quality is not the best. It’s easy to destroy. It’s better to buy a new one ;).
The best blade I have ever had. Its high flexibility makes it easy to control. It is great for counter-attacking, looping, or rallying, especially at medium to long distances. This blade is awesome. It has a soft touch and is dynamic. There is a catapult effect only if you use rubber DHS Hurricane 3.
