DHS Fang Bo B2X
Blade description:
The DHS Fang Bo B2X is a 3+2 construction composite blade featuring an inner-carbon design. It utilizes a Limba outer veneer paired with an Arylate Carbon (ALC) layer positioned close to the core. This configuration balances the natural dwell time and spin-oriented feel of wood with the added stability and power of a composite blade.
Playing Characteristics
- Speed and Power: The blade offers significant reserve power, particularly at mid-to-long distance. Its thicker core construction facilitates easier carbon activation compared to more demanding high-end blades, making it effective for aggressive topspin attacks and counter-looping.
- Feel and Control: Despite its offensive capabilities, the blade maintains a stable, crisp, and predictable feel. The Limba top layer enhances dwell time, allowing for high spin production and control during the short game and delicate placements.
- Stiffness and Sweet Spot: The B2X is notably stiff with a very large sweet spot, which contributes to consistent blocking and stable performance. While it performs exceptionally well for spin-driven loops and aggressive drives, its stiffness can make flat-hitting mechanics less intuitive compared to pure wooden blades.
Handling and Maintenance
- Construction Quality: The blade features a weight distribution that is slightly head-heavy, which promotes aggressive swing mechanics. Users may find the handle shape to be thin or prone to sharp edges, often requiring light sanding or the addition of grip tape for optimal comfort.
- Care Requirements: Due to the soft nature of the Limba surface wood, the blade is susceptible to “splintering” when changing rubbers. It is highly recommended to apply a thin layer of lacquer to the blade face to protect the wood fibers and ensure longevity.

Good price for excellent performance. Shots are fast, with a noticeable jump in power when the carbon is engaged.
The flared handle and head-heavy weight distribution help me spin the ball with confidence on topspin strokes. It feels more stable than the Bo Carbon.

This blade offers a pleasant backhand experience with a touch of crispness. Equipping it with Mantra Pro M on the backhand side enhances its speed and spin capabilities.
As for the forehand, after experimenting with DNA Pro H, I found it lacking in firmness. However, once I switched to Hurricane 3 bs 40°, the blade transformed and provided an exceptional feel.
Overall, this blade stands out as a remarkable choice. Its build quality is impressive, which is not always a given with DHS products. This blade possesses a well-rounded profile without any noticeable shortcomings.

Great blade.
However, I would argue that the speed rating of 9.3 is slightly inflated and is more realistically around 8.8-9.0.
The control of this blade is remarkable.
It bears a strong resemblance to the Timo Boll ZLF in terms of feel and overall playing characteristics. Notably, it is somewhat stiffer than the ZLF.
The sweet spot is exceptionally large.
Considering its price point, this blade offers excellent value for money.
