DHS Hurricane 301X
Blade description:
This composite blade features a 3+2 construction and is designed for offensive-minded players who prioritize looping and spin generation. It offers a balance between high-end speed and linear control, particularly effective during mid-impact exchanges. The blade provides a crisp, stable feel with dampened vibrations, creating a large sweet spot that favors technical, spin-oriented playstyles, including Reverse Penhold Backhand (RPB).
Performance and Feel
- Tactile Feedback: Users report a crisp, clear sensation upon contact, with a stable feel during loops. The blade performs reliably on low-to-mid impact shots but can exhibit a hollow or “plasticky” response if contact is made too flat, which may cause the ball to launch unpredictably.
- Construction: As a composite blade, the internal carbon layers provide a distinct power boost that activates when aggressive force is applied.
- Maintenance Note: The outer plies are noted to be somewhat loose. It is strongly recommended to apply a layer of varnish to the blade surface before attaching rubbers to prevent splintering or damage during removal.
Handling and Compatibility
- Ergonomics: The handle design is typically described as comfortable and easy to maneuver, though some players find the handle profile to be on the thinner side, potentially requiring an overgrip for optimal security.
- Rubber Pairing: The blade is sensitive to rubber selection. While it pairs well with a variety of modern tensioned and tacky rubbers, it requires a developed, gentle technique for close-to-table play. It is generally advised to avoid overly bouncy setups if control becomes difficult to manage.

Excellent stuff! It has replaced my Viscaria, and I like this bat better.

Very fast, yet it has exceptional control at a long distance.
It’s a professional blade and highly recommended.

The feeling, flexibility, and precision of the 301 are much better than the 301X.
I bought this blade because I wanted something slightly faster. However, it turns out that the 301 is more reliable.
The 301X may work better with softer rubbers. I am currently using DHS H3 Turbo Pro & Gewo NexXus 53 Superselect rubbers.
