Blade description:

The Stiga Allround Evolution is a premium table tennis blade designed for players seeking a balance of control and speed. This five-ply wooden blade is crafted to enhance touch and feel, making it especially suitable for all-round play. Players often appreciate its ability to provide excellent feedback during rallies, allowing for precise shot-making and control. The blade’s speed is rated at 5.1, providing a moderate pace that suits both beginners and advanced players looking for a versatile tool to refine their skills.

At an average weight of 89g and featuring a medium thickness, the Allround Evolution strikes a good balance between stability and maneuverability. Its stiffness rating of 4.5 and hardness of 5.2 contribute to a lively playing experience, offering enough flexibility to accommodate various playing styles. Many reviews highlight its comfortable handle, which enhances the overall gameplay experience, making it an ideal choice for players who prioritize control and feel in their strokes.

While the Allround Evolution is not the fastest blade on the market, it compensates with a consistency rating of 8.3 and control rating of 7.1, making it easier to place shots accurately. For those seeking alternatives, the Stiga Allround Classic is often mentioned as a slower option with similar control characteristics. However, players who are looking for a more aggressive setup can combine this blade with medium-soft rubbers for optimal results. Whether you are a beginner honing your skills or an intermediate player seeking a reliable all-round blade, the Stiga Allround Evolution delivers an impressive blend of performance and comfort.

I’m comparing this to the Stiga Allround Classic. I would recommend always getting the Allround Evolution over the Allround Classic, no matter how much of a beginner you are.

There are several reasons for this. First, the handle is a lot larger on the Evolution. For me, who has average-sized hands, the Classic felt small enough to bother me. I feel like the handle was made for women or kids.

Secondly, the speed and stiffness are around 20% more than the Classic. However, the feeling has no compromise at all for that speed and stiffness. Rather, I would say the Evolution has a clearer contact than the Classic. The speed increase is small enough that it makes no difference in consistency. Really, you’re going to hit as many shots with the Evolution as with the Classic, only your shots will be a tiny bit faster, at least in the short game.

Excuse my English.

It’s a really good blade for beginners, especially when you’re first starting to glue your own bats. The focus here is on control and feedback. It’s a traditional 5-ply blade, well-made and provides good feedback. I appreciate that it’s light. However, my copy was a bit rough when I received it, so I sanded the handle and the joint where the blade meets the handle, where the fingers go.

The blade is very forgiving and has a great feel and feedback. It also generates a fair bit of spin with the right rubber, but it is slow. Even when you hit really hard, the ball seems to travel in slow motion. Any ambitious player will likely outgrow it within a season or two. It’s good for newcomers or people like me, who don’t know what to get or what they really like or want. It was good to get me started playing again, but now, in my second season, I’ve moved on to more modern and faster blades.

It is a well-produced, quality blade for a fair price and a safe bet. You can’t go wrong with it, unless you know you are an offensive heavy hitter. If you need a gentle blade that provides feedback and lets you develop your playing style without requiring too much speed, this is it. No need to look further.

I started to get better when I found this blade. It has amazing control, spin, vibration, and feeling. It’s truly my first love.

It’s perfect for developing technique. I first paired it with H3 Neo. Later, I switched to H8 soft for the backhand and H8 mid-hard for the forehand. It’s a killing blade!
