Stiga Clipper WRB
Blade description:
The Stiga Clipper is a legendary 7-ply all-wood blade known for its versatility and consistent performance in aggressive, offensive play. It provides a crisp, firm feel while maintaining the high levels of control characteristic of classic wooden construction. Players frequently note that it delivers a “sharp” hitting sensation and is highly effective for looping, driving, and blocking at various distances from the table.
Playing Characteristics
- Performance: Classified as a fast, offensive blade that performs well in mid-distance duels and at-the-table finishing. It generates a high arc for loops and maintains consistent, powerful hits.
- Feel and Feedback: Offers excellent tactile feedback, allowing users to understand the nuances of their strokes. It is stiff, yet retains a soft touch that benefits the short game and touch shots.
- Versatility: Highly compatible with a wide range of rubbers, including medium and hard inverted rubbers, as well as short and long pips. It effectively amplifies the inherent characteristics of the chosen rubber setup.
Design and Construction
- Construction: A traditional 7-ply all-wood blade.
- Weight and Balance: While it is a solid, professional-grade blade, users report significant weight variance between individual units, typically ranging from 80g to 98g. Balance can lean toward the head, particularly in WRB (Weight-Rate-Balance) versions, which some users find increases speed at the expense of maneuverability.
- Handle and Finish: The Master (FL) handle features a distinct, curved shape that offers a secure grip for explosive forehand drives. It is recommended to sand the edges of the blade wings before use, as they can be sharp and may cause discomfort during play. Additionally, the surface wood is noted to be somewhat fragile, making the use of side tape advisable.

Good product.

IMPORTANT DETAIL: Tested with two Rozenas and two Bluefire M1s. Pros: - Good speed - Excellent control - Easy ball spin - Clear reasons for errors Cons: - Fragile surface that requires sidetape - Requires sanding before use (sharp edges can injure hands) NOTE: Head size is 158mm x 151mm, which may be rounder than preferred. A Viscaria is 157mm x 150mm. - Center of gravity is towards the head, which increases speed but may not be preferable - Weight can vary significantly (88g for my blade) - Stiga’s FL (Master) handle differs from Butterfly’s FL handle, being more curved in the middle for better forehand security but potentially complicating backhand transitions.

Slower than the Clipper CR, which has the see-through Stiga signature.
