Victas Black Balsa 7.0

Blade description:

Construction and Physical Characteristics

This blade features an all-wood construction centered around a thick balsa core. It is exceptionally lightweight, frequently noted by users to be in the 55g–65g range. Due to the inherent softness of balsa wood, the blade is physically delicate and requires care when changing rubbers to prevent surface splintering. It offers a distinct, crisp acoustic feedback upon ball contact, characteristic of its balsa composition.

Playing Characteristics

The blade is highly specialized for close-to-the-table play, excelling in blocking, flat hitting, and active placement. It provides a large sweet spot that offers consistent control, making it forgiving for developing players while remaining a potent tool for attackers. While it produces impressive speed during aggressive, hard-hitting strokes, it lacks the raw inertia and power typically found in heavier, traditional blades when playing from mid-to-far distance.

Performance and Recommendations

The blade’s performance is highly dependent on rubber selection. It is widely recommended to pair this blade with soft-to-medium tension or spin-oriented rubbers to compensate for the balsa core’s specific rebound effect and limited flex. While hard or non-tacky rubbers may diminish its spin potential, the blade is particularly well-regarded for its ease of maneuverability, which reduces wrist fatigue and facilitates rapid transitions and table-tennis “twiddling.”

Excellent quality.

It is very light. I bought it to use in case of wrist or hand injuries, and it fulfills its objective.

It doesn’t lack power if you hit hard, although logically it doesn’t gain the inertia of a normal paddle. I recommend gluing rubbers that give good spin; otherwise, it’s hard to spin the ball because the wood doesn’t flex well, so all the spin has to come from the rubber.

Hard, non-sticky rubbers are not very useful; very sticky or softer rubbers should be used.

Extremely lightweight blade; ours weighs 58g. It has a good bounce and is not slow.

At times, the ball bounces surprisingly faster, even without apparent additional effort.
