Blade description:

The Yinhe Mercury Y-15 is an impressive table tennis blade, known for its excellent balance of speed, control, and spin potential. Crafted with a 7-ply design, including 2 layers of carbon, this blade boasts a thickness of 6.8mm and a weight of approximately 87 grams. This combination makes it a great choice for intermediate to advanced players seeking a reliable performance across various playing styles, especially for looping and smashes.

The Y-15 is praised for its medium stiffness, offering a stiffness rating of 4.7 and a hardness of 5.7, striking a compelling balance that helps players generate significant spin while retaining control. This flex allows players to engage in powerful top-spins and aggressive smashes while providing enough feedback to execute precision shots. The blade’s consistent performance has earned it an overall rating of 8.9, making it a favorite among competitive players.

For those considering alternatives, the Y-15 is often compared to higher-end blades, providing a similarly fast experience at a more affordable price. It pairs exceptionally well with rubbers like Tenergy 05, DHS G8, and various tensor rubbers, allowing players to customize their setup according to their preferences. However, it’s worth noting that the Y-15 may present a learning curve for novice players due to its fast speed. Overall, the Yinhe Mercury Y-15 stands out as a versatile and high-performing blade, ideal for enhancing your game without breaking the bank.

This Yinhe Mercury Y-15 (Cpen - Penhold) is quite fast and has good control. Despite its speed, the vibration is still felt a little when hitting.

I tried combining it with Yinhe Earth 2 rubber, and the result is not bad. The loop is pretty good, and it’s easy to direct the ball, even though we have to move a little away from the table to do the smash.

If you use the Yinhe Mercury 2 Medium Max rubber instead, it’s also okay. However, the control and speed are slightly below Earth 2, but the spin is above it.

I bought this blade from Princett for $14, and it’s worth every penny. I wanted a hard surface blade with some flex, and I found a great one. The surface is hard, but it helps with lazy plastic balls on dead returns. Smashes are great. The flex is springy, and it helps charge the ball with spin from mid-distance on top-spins. It’s a great blade for looping and smashing. The handle is a bit thin.

I think this will be my 2019 blade. I’ll update after a month of use.

Today I won my first tournament with this blade. I used Tenergy 05 FH and DHS G8 backhand. I got a great 84 grams blade. Maybe I was lucky. It has 3 gears. Slow for pushes, fast and flexy (with extra spin) for topspin loop, and extra hard for active blocks and smashes. At the moment, this blade is everything I need and can handle.

This is a very good blade that provides excellent power and speed, allowing you to control your shots effectively. The blade’s weight of 93 grams, which is ideal for my preferences, provides a solid feel. I have equipped the blade with Palio AK 47 Blue rubbers and Palio Hadou Black rubbers on the sides, which bring the total weight to 183 grams, resulting in a well-balanced combination.
