Butterfly Bryce Speed FX is a premium table tennis rubber renowned for its impressive speed and versatility, catering specifically to aggressive players who prioritize quick attacks. With a remarkable speed rating of 9.4, it consistently delivers powerful shots that can leave opponents struggling to respond. The sponge’s softness (rated at 3.4 on the hardness scale) allows for excellent control, particularly during fast rallies and counter-loops, making it a preferred choice for advanced players. Although this rubber produces decent spin (8.4), it parades less tackiness (2.5), making it less focused on spin-heavy techniques and more on speed and precision.
In terms of weight, Bryce Speed FX is classified as lightweight (4.3), which contributes to its excellent maneuverability, especially useful in fast-paced exchanges at various distances from the table. This light feel enables players to unleash quick flicks and powerful topspin shots with relative ease. However, it’s worth noting that while the rubber is built for speed, its durability scores at 6.9 indicate that it may wear out faster compared to some other models, so players should consider this aspect based on their playing frequency.
For those considering alternatives, the Butterfly Tenergy series or Sriver rubbers can be appealing, especially for players seeking more spin or a firmer feel. Nevertheless, Bryce Speed FX stands out as an exceptional choice for universal attackers who favor speed and control over sheer spin, making it one of the top recommendations for dynamic offensive play in table tennis.
Butterfly Rubber Review
This rubber excels for backhand use. As expected from Butterfly products, it boasts high quality. It provides medium throw, medium spin, and above-average speed. While it may be slightly soft, it maintains its firmness. Compared to the Tenergy series, it offers less pace but exhibits a more linear trajectory than tensor rubbers.
The rubber boasts superb speed, making it an excellent choice for players prioritizing pace in their game. However, it may not fully align with the requirements and preferences of my playing style.
This fast rubber is a good choice for backhand play.
