Butterfly Tenergy 25 FX

Rubber description:

This rubber is a tensor-type designed primarily for an aggressive, attacking game. It features a softer sponge compared to the standard Tenergy 25, resulting in a pronounced catapult effect and increased dwell time. Due to its unique construction, it performs best when paired with stiff, hard blades to offset its inherent softness and maximize energy transfer.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Spin: The rubber offers high speed, particularly when engaged fully to reach the sponge layer. While it is capable of generating significant spin, it requires a deliberate, aggressive swing to achieve maximum results, as it is less spin-sensitive than other rubbers in the Tenergy line.
  • Control and Blocking: It is highly regarded for its exceptional blocking capabilities, allowing for accurate and controlled returns. Its performance during passive play and service receives is reliable, though it can feel bouncy for players who struggle with consistent ball placement.
  • Throw Angle: The rubber produces a high throw angle, which aids in lifting the ball over the net during topspin rallies but may require adjustments in swing angle—typically around 45 degrees—to maintain consistency.
  • Tactile Feedback: The softer sponge provides a distinct, bouncy feel. When paired with softer blades, the dwell time can become quite long, which some players find advantageous for precision, while others may find it excessive depending on their stroke mechanics.

The best backhand rubber for me. It has good grip, speed, and control.

This rubber enables a wide range of spins on serves. It’s particularly effective for short-table cut shots, making it challenging for opponents to return. However, it can be slightly difficult to perform spins due to its high speed, often causing the ball to go wide. To mitigate this issue, simply step back and perform the spins about a meter from the table.

Overall, the rubber closely resembles the Andro Rasanter 47 but outperforms it in every aspect.

This could be the fastest among all Tenergy series, but you cannot have both sides fit with the same T25 FX as it really means for attacking game so you really need to have the stamina to play that kind of game.

I found it too hard to produce spin, so every time, you have to hit hard in order to generate more spins. In other words, if you are not playing attacking game then you should not choose T25 FX instead where you should consider to use T05 and T80. T64 is fine too if you would like to play a safer game where you put control as your priority.

Some players always thought that they can kill their opponent with just one “hard hit” stroke, so every time they hit very hard, unfortunately, it was not always the case where no matter how hard you hit the ball, as long as it is reachable by the opponent, you will be surprised that your opponent may return the ball with more spins and speed. Therefore, you can see that no many top players were using T25 series for championship games. The most common used was T05, T64, and T80.

If you still attempt to master your table tennis skills, I suggest you should consider T05 or T05 FX instead. In conclusion, T25 FX is meant for attacking game.

Most Chinese players won’t use Tenergy series for the forehand because Tenergy was not tacky enough and not good enough to produce “killing” spins. Most top Chinese players were still using DHS Hurricane for forehand and Tenergy for backhand. Please don’t get me wrong; those Hurricanes you can’t get it from the retail shop, however, the Provincial version with blue sponge (make sure you buy a genuine version) is more than enough for an amateur. This combination gives you the advantage to play attacking game where you still can have control in mind.
