Friendship 729 Yudo is a popular table tennis rubber known for its exceptional control, high spin, and reliable speed. It falls under the all-round category, catering to players seeking a balanced performance across various playing styles. Its versatility allows for effective offense and defense strategies, making it suitable for beginners to intermediate-level players.
One of the notable characteristics of Yudo is its tacky surface, rated 6.3 out of 10, which contributes to excellent ball control. This tackiness enables players to generate spin effortlessly, making it easier to execute precise shots and challenging for opponents to return. The ball tends to dwell on the rubber for a fraction longer, providing enhanced feel and dwell time, allowing for more controlled play.
In terms of speed, the Yudo rubber is rated 9 out of 10, indicating its ability to deliver fast and powerful shots. The 7-ply sponge hardness further complements this speed, ensuring crisp and responsive strokes. However, despite its high-speed rating, the Yudo rubber still maintains a high level of control, rated 9 out of 10. This balance between speed and control makes it an excellent choice for all-round players seeking consistency and versatility in their game.
The Yudo rubber is also known for its spin capabilities, earning a rating of 9 out of 10. The tacky surface and high elasticity of the rubber work in tandem to generate immense spin, enabling players to execute tricky serves, deceptive loops, and aggressive topspin shots. This spin-oriented characteristic makes it a formidable weapon for players seeking an advantage in spin-focused rallies.
The Friendship 729 Yudo rubber boasts an overall rating of 8.7 out of 10, reflecting its well-rounded performance and suitability for a wide range of playing styles. Its balanced speed, excellent control, high spin, and tacky surface make it a popular choice among players seeking a reliable and versatile rubber. Whether you're a beginner looking to develop fundamental skills or an intermediate player aiming to enhance your all-round game, the Yudo rubber offers a blend of performance and consistency that caters to your needs.
When I put this on my Yinhe T-4 off+ (Black 2.0mm), I could lift the ball over 6 feet before it fell off. That was before I started playing with it and cleaning it with foam rubber cleaner. Now some of the tacky has worn off and I can only lift the ball around 2-3 feet.
It has great spin and good control, but it’s not a speed machine. The Japanese sponge has great feel for those who like that sort of thing.
I play mid-distance topspins and chops, and this rubber performs fine. I can lift the ball perfectly, and hitting against loops of topspins with good technique is also possible.
It’s a good all-around rubber, but it would be more spinny and controllable on a more suited all+ blade.
