Andro Wanokiwami Midori DEF
Blade description:
This blade is a specialized defensive tool designed to provide a balanced transition between defensive stability and offensive utility. It functions as a performance-oriented alternative to traditional defensive blades, offering a playing experience positioned between the Donic Defplay Senso V3 and the Butterfly Joo Sae Hyuk.
Playing Characteristics
- Construction: This is an all-wood blade.
- Performance: The blade offers a high degree of control, specifically suited for defenders who require precision. Despite its primary defensive nature, it provides sufficient speed to execute effective, fast topspins.
- Versatility: The feel is balanced, accommodating a wide range of setups, from soft rubbers on the forehand to long pips OX or thin-sponge setups on the backhand.
- Ergonomics: Users may find the handle design distinct from classic defensive blades like the Matsushita Pro, which may require a brief adjustment period for players transitioning from older, traditional models.

On my forehand (FH), I usually play with Donic BlueGrip C2, previously using C1 and H3. On my backhand (BH), I use Tibhar Grass with a custom 1.5 sponge and a hardness of 55.
The Midori blade falls between the Donic Defplay V3 and the Butterfly Joo Se Hyuk in terms of characteristics. It offers a nice balance between attack and defense.

It’s a very nice blade, very well done. The control is very good, and the speed is enough to play fast topspins. It’s not as slow as other defensive blades. I play with a soft rubber on the forehand and with OX on the backhand, and this combination works very well!

In all aspects, it’s quite similar to the old Koji Matsushita blade. However, the handle is quite different and requires some getting used to.
