The Butterfly Innerforce ZLF is a highly regarded table tennis blade that combines advanced technology with exceptional playability. Constructed from a unique blend of wood and ZL fiber, this blade consists of seven plies that deliver powerful performance while maintaining excellent control. This construction results in a blade that feels both responsive and soft, ideal for spin-driven playstyles, particularly for looping and topspins.
In terms of weight, the Innerforce ZLF is considered to be light, providing a balanced feel that enhances maneuverability and reduces fatigue during extended play. Its thickness and stiffness allow for a medium degree of flexibility, which is appreciated by players who rely on generating high levels of spin. Many users have noted its impressive dwell time, contributing to a fantastic ability to impart spin on the ball, thus making it a favorite among spin attackers.
With a speed rating of 90 and control rating of 80, the Innerforce ZLF strikes a commendable balance for players who enjoy a versatile playing style. While it caters primarily to spin-oriented players, its overall dynamic range offers a satisfying experience for various playing styles. Alternatives to this model include the Butterfly Timo Boll Spirit and the Viscaria, which also have their unique strengths, appealing more to those who favor different aspects of play.
However, some users have pointed out that the blade may feel slower than anticipated, especially compared to other fast blades on the market. Hence, while it caters brilliantly to those focusing on spin and control, power smashers may want to explore other options. Overall, the Butterfly Innerforce ZLF is an excellent choice for intermediate to advanced players seeking a blade that enhances their looping and control game.
I really liked the Innerforce ZLF. In summary:
1- It does not have a classic carbon feel, but rather more of a wood feel. However, there is enough stiffness for consistency. 2- It is not as fast as it is written here. It is definitely a bit slower than Viscaria, and also less hard. 3- It has a nice and comfortable vibration, and the ball feeling is at the highest level. 4- Since it is a flexible blade, it is very easy to produce spins. 5- I use a straight handle. If you have medium-sized hands, the thickness of the handle would be sufficient.
In conclusion, if you are a mid-to-high level player, you will love this blade.
Summary: Very Nice Features with a Big Problem
What is written about this blade’s flexibility, spin, and control in other reviews is mostly true. This blade makes a very nice impression the first time you use it. It allows for good short play, nice smashing, extra spinny serving, good speed, and precise feeling.
The big problem is noticeable only after a certain amount of time: After a strong spin, the ball “gets stuck” in the blade and travels at a very slow speed on an extraordinarily high arc to the opponent’s side. When you increase the power, the result is always slower and less accurate.
Therefore, it is almost impossible to hit a powerful finishing spin. This is the result of a combination of the blade’s extremely high dwell time and its extremely high throw. As a result, this blade is unsuitable for a spin player. This is, unfortunately, a very interesting and paradoxical situation: the blade that is one of the spinniest and most controlled is not suitable for fast attacking and spinning. Its very good and unique features result in a bad combination and mixed effects.
After playing with the Timo Boll Spirit for many years, the new, larger, and heavier plastic ball has prompted me to make a change. This is a good blade for direct hitting. It’s very fast with Calibra LT on the forehand and Joola Rhyzm on the backhand. So far, I am very pleased with the results.
